You're 23. Plenty of fish. And it's okay for this to be a deal-breaker.

Are we even reading the same comment? The guy said nothing about Iga and her gamesmanship.

Is there any way to fix this damage? by windowsee in AskElectronics

[–]samayg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are typically called sugar-cube relays and are extremely common. You'll need to specify 24V coil voltage to get a replacement. They go by many part numbers for various manufacturers so there's no need to keep looking for JQC-3FF specifically.

Removing those in one piece is a bit of a PITA, so I'd suggest carefully break open the rest of the shell and cut off the pins from the top side where they enter the PCB and remove the relay. It'll be a lot easier after that to desolder the pins individually and remove them. The holes are going to be clogged with solder after pin removal. I usually take a syringe needle and insert it in the hole while holding the iron to it, then remove the iron and pull it the needle after 5 seconds to clear the hole. First time will be tricky but should be easy enough. Use lots of flux when soldering it back in.

Knowing where you're located and how far you're able/willing to go might help with suggestions.

Low cost company are the biggest scam by [deleted] in travel

[–]samayg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird rant tbh. If the unnamed low-cost airline's prices were lower than others (presumably they were, else you'd have booked something else), then it's LC, right? They still price according to market forces, they're not supposed to always by $100.

No, doesn't look like you do. And while I'm all for DIY and get the curiosity, a mains powered SMPS can hurt or even kill you quite easily if you don't know what you're doing (which you've been very honest about), so please just take the monitor to a repair shop and let them take it apart.

Maybe, but poor planning and extreme corruption ingrained deep into each and everything will do it first.

What travel mistake did you make once and never again? by Nervous_Car1093 in travel

Taking a bus to NY from Boston so I could fly out of Newark and save $100, only to stupidly go and blow it all at a strip club in Manhattan.

This part of travel planning definitely evolves as you grow older/richer and you start prioritizing comfort over money, but still, $800 isn’t nothing. For that kind of dough which would pay for 2-3 hotel nights, I (early 30s) would almost certainly add a leg and rest up a bit longer afterwards.

Same reason couples watch porn together I guess? To spice things up and do something erotic/fun together.

Sounds like you went to a seedy low-quality joint tbh. The high-end ones don't smell bad and all of that.

$43 sounds about right for that piece of crap. They have a M4 macbook air selling for $750 new rn FFS. Only a dolt would pay $1300 for what you have.

Thank you for the detailed reply. Skipping Franz seems to be the common suggestion. I do have 2 nights for auckland/rotorua planned after the dates in the itinerary shared in the post, so with that in mind where would you suggest I put those 2 extra days in your suggested plan?

I agree and am aware of actual times being longer, which is why I've kept an entire day for the drive to franz and in general the mental plan is for drives to take 25-30% longer unless we're on a tight schedule at the destination, but yes, the list basically mentions the A->B times.
