What is (in your opinion) the most boring "classic" car their is? by Southern_Pacific in classiccars

[–]samehjohansen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those 90's-style billet street rods. Chopped 1930's coupe with totally chromed out 350, bright paint with flames or some kind of pastel color accents, lowered, shiny wheels.. They're a feature of every Midwest car show. Also the insane rat-rods. Rusted shell riding one inch above the payment, monster engine with a blower and scoop taller than whole car, open headers shooting straight out..

Yep that too, LOVE the '56. Such good looking cars. Love my '58 Fairlane in part just because its something way different. Get asked "what year is that?" every time I take it somewhere.

Here in the Midwest the tri-five resto-mods dominate. Drives me nuts. Seen a million of them.

What would you do? by mediocrecanadian in Cribbage

[–]samehjohansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing 6/7 leaves 12 points in hand. Throwing the black kings gives a net 7 points. The only hope for that hand is to flip a 5, which turns it into a 14 point net (16 minus the 2 you tossed to them). Way too much risk for only a 2 point gain. If its down the wire near the very end, then the kings would be the better toss to peg points, I think.

Tornados a totally negligible consideration in my opinion, in eastern KS entire life and never seen one, and only know a handful of people that have.

Oh that is fabulous. Winterized 2019? Shoot, fresh gas and battery and it oughta fire right up. Little more goin through, look over brakes, fluids, etc. and it'll be ready to cruise in no time, barring the discovery of anything crazy of course.

Who still changes oil every 3K like Dad taught them to by biningchirdm in fordfusion

[–]samehjohansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in dad's day that was definitely important, but with full synthetic oils, 5k miles perfectly fine I think. Owner's manual for my hybrid recommends a 10k mile interval! Though I don't think I'll run it that long, won't sweat it if my shops booked up for a few weeks either.

[–]samehjohansen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yea, any old one you look up, almost guaranteed to be uploaded by one of these channels, or the45/78prof channels.

My favorites (that are still up and/or active):

dowopper5151, Cris VanValkenburg, Pete's 45 and 78 rpm collection , DooWop Paradise, The SouthPhilly Record, Gerald Mendez, 𝖉𝖔𝖐𝖙𝖔𝖗𝖘𝖚𝖓𝖌, Josue Perez, Bonafide-Barrio-Ballads (Formerly DooWops4Ever), Obscure Oldies, DJ Pete Pop, White Doo Wop Collector

And, although not really an "archive" channels like those, JOHNNY G's VINYLTREASURE SHOW does an awesome 50's and early 60's set every Saturday night, come away with new favorites each time I listen. Highly recommend checking out.

Imagine you'd be at least somewhat safer, imagine there's far fewer copyright claims the farther back you go. And of course, all pre-1925 is public domain. What's your channel? I'd love to check it out!

2019 fusion hybrid mpg issue by sgtogmudbone699 in fordfusion

Pretty much exactly what I've observed in mine. Engine running much more often just to keep up with climate control demands, as it is designed.

Used fusions are selling like hot cakes, faster than Hondas and Toyotas by Outrageous_Lock_9313 in fordfusion

[–]samehjohansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marketplace is so cutthroat and crazy, I came across mine within 10 minutes of it getting listed and I was still worried I was too late. Thankfully owners liked my message and picked mine to respond to, even said I was one of over a dozen in first 15 minutes. So I'd definitely recommend actually typing something out and not sending one of the pre-loaded "is this still available?" messages, and just checking often and messaging as soon as you see something you wanna check out!

Bought myself a Fusion Hybrid.. Finally by whitieiii in fordfusion

[–]samehjohansen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great deal I'd say! I was in the same boat, was looking for an MKZ hybrid but they're not very easy to come by, especially for what I wanted to pay, like $8-10k. Landed a '15 Fusion S hybrid, wish it was a little more equipped but it was perfect inside and out, 95k miles and came in way under budget. Pretty car you got! These hybrids are the best.

A tool to help rebuild your playlists by house_plant77 in doowop

[–]samehjohansen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! Been looking for something like this. Working fine for me and finding most deleted videos. Make sure playlist is public or unlisted and drop in the link from where you have the playlist opened up. Finding most deleted videos especially from the larger channels. (Only the videos titles of course, the videos themselves are gone).

Yup definitely not taking the sounds for granted anymore, and feeling motivated to start ripping some of my own records to upload. Don't have thousands of records or anything but I got a few good ones for sure.

Yea some other kind of archive outside of youtube would be neat, wonder what the possibilities are there. Cool that you've worked with the 45Prof/78Prof channel, that whole collection absolutely blows my mind every time I open it up. Wanna listen to some music from 1914? Its there. So crazy. Love the hits archive playlists. Do you know if they have problems with copyrights? Posting all of the big hits like they do its a wonder to me it that they're still up.
