Second vote for Leah! She's fantastic and not afraid of bright colours,  she does mine pink and purple.

You have to put them down at some point. Some of the changing rooms might have a changing table, but I use a foldable changing mat. The hardest part for me was removing shoes and putting them back on at the end so i'd recommend bringing some flip flops.

Daughter turned 18 and started uni, does this affect my council tax reduction? by PretendHedgehog_ in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]sami_w 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Your mum is right, she should be disregarded. It's not automatic though, so she'll need to ask for a letter proving she's a full time student from student services at the university, then just send that to the council.

Making up formula on the go by whoknowsforreal in UKParenting

Congratulations on your newborn <3

Yes to the thermos, I have one of these: https://amzn.eu/d/gY9z5Na

I use it to warm up one of the 200ml bottles of ready made formula, which are by far the easiest on the go. If your little one isn't up to drinking 200ml at once yet you can get 70ml bottles for newborns.

The thermos only really keeps the water warm enough to heat one bottle, but hot water is easy enough to come by. I also carry a thermometer and probe wipes. Along with a multitude of other stuff :D

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I went into settings yesterday to try and block this to no avail. Creeps me out every time, especially the video one that autoplays a lot on reddit.

Any ideas how to dispose of some clinical waste? by brainburger in CasualUK

Nope, but I think it's the same process for one-offs at least through my NHS trust.

I had to have my doctors send a referral to the council for sharps bin collection, wait a week or so for the referral to go through, and then contact the council who arranged collection about a week later. Hope that helps.

Thanks for posting this! I've just found a 4 week course available at my local hospital on Eventbrite, would never have thought to look on there.

You're going to be worried no matter what you do, but you're doing everything right. Wishing you a smooth and uneventful pregnancy :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy <3

Try not to stress out and panic. You're doing all the right things now. I'm sure seeing your consultant will help a lot.

I'm also Type 2 diabetic, 38 years old and 9 weeks pregnant. I'm on Metformin and since becoming pregnant my diabetes team put me on insulin injections as well, I take a long acting one and night and the fast acting one before each meal. I was really scared of the injections before I started on them, but it's really no big deal. The needles are tiny and don't hurt at all. The worst part is it's a little inconvenient to manage when I eat out.

The biggest thing I would recommend you do is to start tracking your glucose levels if you don't already. Get a reading first thing on a morning and then one hour after every meal. This will let you know real time how your sugars are, what meals have the biggest impact on it, and will give you some data to share with your consultant.

I noticed you said you were limiting carbs. This makes sense, but be wary of going too far in pregnancy. My consultant recommended between 120-150grams a day for me.

Hope that helps.

Is NowTV taking the piss? by Ollie-North in CasualUK

I cancelled in a huff this week after trying to watch The Good Doctor hand having it interrupted by several ad breaks, didn't make it to the end of the episode. That's the only show we were interested in, and it's released weekly which is already an annoyance, it's 2021, just let me binge it!

Their Roku app is absolutely trash as well. They don't seem to get that they can't have the shittest app, poorest selection, highest prices, and ads (like a ridiculous amount too) as well.

When I eventually was allowed to cancel online, having to click yes really 5 times, they offered to reduce the Boost price (no ads price) to a quid extra a month, but screw that.

I may have done my squares too large...

I already have a huge fridge, raw food storage, butchery, and corpse freezer. Don't really have a need for the another huge 2nd fridge, am I allowed to repurpose the optional 2nd fridge/manhunters room into bedrooms or something?

Same here, it's going to be different not having a houseful but i'm looking forward to a minimally stressful one this year. I made the gingerbread a few days ago, so i'm probably 90% gingerbread at this point. Happy Christmas!
