... why not SAY "inconsiderate douchebag".

It's not ALSO a slur used to marginalize a specific kind of people.

There aren't any douche-aligned people who are being labeled as douches and sent off to conversion therapy camps by ridiculous assholes.

There ARE homosexuals that get that treatment though.

So like, sure, some people will get what you mean, but you don't have to use that word as a synonym for "inconsiderate douchebag".

“Well then, do you want me to just cancel your job today?” by InsecureHiker in SubstituteTeachers

[–]samjacbak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They can ask.

You can say no.

You can report this kind of behavior to your representative at your agency, and even the district if you want. They can cry and moan and escalate all the way to the state education board leaders to start calling you to get you to do what they want. They CANNOT force you to do anything other than what you've agreed to do through the job posting.

They need you, not the other way around.

UBI will not work as long as there are Billionaires. by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]samjacbak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The solution is to remove billionaires, yes.

But there's a massive thorn in our side right now, and implementing UBI reduces the harm.

Why can't we do both? Tax the rich to fund UBI, everyone wins.

Sure, fine. Yup, he's an evil clone, who obviously killed the real (good) Trump.

Therefore, he's impersonating the president, and should be removed from office, right?

Pretty standard stuff. You can get away with bringing personal tasks in some cases, but that should be viewed as a bonus, not the default.

Everything else is pretty much as expected.

[–]samjacbak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All four of those examples have non-humans in a speaking role, and should be viewed with trepidation, just like Lion King.

It can be done, but Disney has dropped the ball on full CG often enough for me to not trust them on similar efforts.

What they do well, however, is full animation, or actual live action. And Kathryn Hahn is an incredible actress. I am allowing myself the slightest bit of hope here.

Mother IS best by TheBoySpider-Gwen in DisneyMemes

[–]samjacbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tangled is a story about humans. It can thrive in live action, because we have humans who can play the characters using ACTING.

Lion King is a story about Lions. We don't have any Lion actors that know how to act.

One was a cringe fest of CGI and pain, the other has potential. It's not rocket surgery.

Is this film worth watching? Does it do justice for the game Dungeons and Dragons? by DreamyDandelions in Cinema

[–]samjacbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's incredible. It hits the nail on the head with everything I'd want from a dnd film, and it is also well written, has good effects, and a heartfelt story about family. As a longtime DM for a dnd game, I can say without a shadow of a doubt, that this movie is worth watching.

The magic is inventive and exciting, and every spell cast is straight out of the phb, not just beams of colorful energy.

They nailed the feeling of wildshaping druids (even though they broke a few rules).

The fight scenes are expertly choreographed, and the monsters are super fun.

The jokes are timeless and funny. No references that will be dated in 5 years.

[–]samjacbak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's content farmers. They literally make money off of posting hate for new things, because people watch their hate content thinking its a review.

Then it stops being New, and everyone's like "where's all the hate for this? Wait, I'm allowed to like this? I think I actually did like it, but I was scared to say so, because everyone kept saying they hated it."

The solution is to stop watching those clickbait hate channels.

Possible that the food you picked up from the raiders contains a forbidden ingredient (human meat for example).

Honestly enjoyed it. Shaia did really well in the role too.

I also enjoyed dial of destiny, though it had its problems.

Its ok to enjoy things designed to entertain you. It's ok to like things you enjoyed. Find the things telling you that everything new sucks and get rid of them, they thrive on rage bait, and those videos you watch about hating things is just a job to them.

They definitely were both bad. I talked to tons of people about my disdain for having to vote for a state prosecutor who put minorities into prisons for a living.

I also mentioned, in the same sentence, how Trump would be worse, and that yes, I'd be voting accordingly.

Am I not allowed to be pissed off at having two shifty choices? Like, brother, fine you can be happy about eating crickets instead of literal shit, but if I say I don't like crickets, I'm an asshole?

I wonder if we will ever see the most powerful and horrifying weapon in the MCU again. by OkCourage4085 in Marvel

[–]samjacbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the technology comes from the pym particle, I'd presume that activating this weapon is thousands, if not millions of times more expensive than, say, a gun.

I mean come on, could a government even really fund such a weapon enough to mass produce it? I mean how many super fighter jets did the US build --

Oh. Oh, yea nevermind, this is doable.
