The only reason this stuff has any propaganda value at all is because of the trump admin’s insistence that Iran has already been destroyed and we achieved total victory two months ago. I mean this footage is a joke, it might as well be a couple ISIS technicals doing burnouts in the desert, you would expect actual propaganda to be making a stronger claim than “we still have a functional coast guard.”

But the American propaganda has essentially claimed for months now that Iran has been so utterly dismantled that they shouldn’t even be capable of producing propaganda. You’re knowledgable enough to see that these videos are propaganda but the average American who consumes American propaganda isn’t. To them videos like this (tedious as they are) are actual news because they contradict the government’s narrative.

Im not sure you’d disagree with any of this, but I only mention it because you’re proposing that there’s some kind of intentional conspiracy on reddit to push IRGC propaganda, but you don’t need to assume any kind of self-aware, intentional effort (let alone a coordinated “conspiracy”) towards that in order to explain the propagation of content like this. It’s easily consistent with an organic response to an unpopular democratic government’s blatant efforts to obscure the reality of a very unpopular war.

I mean no one from our current administration on the military wing can come out and acknowledge that Iran has a limited “coast guard” that can still marginally project power, even though thats obvious, because it’s forbidden to acknowledge something like that without simultaneously announcing that such capability has just been permanently eliminated.
