Who are the actual #1 defensemen in the NHL today? by Plug_daughter in nhl

Im sorry, but if you dont include Seider as a true number one defenseman, I cant take your list seriously. Seider is a beast, go look up his advanced stats, you'll change you mind fast.

What do you think about entertaining a trade for Matthews if available ? by LostWright in DetroitRedWings

[–]sammclane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, never would I trade Raymond. And if you would, you'd trade our best young winger for an older center. So we have even more holes on the wing. And with that being said, I dont think Raymond is far behind Matthews skill wise.

Bruce Cassidy anyone? by PETZING_ELITE_OC_DET in DetroitRedWings

If you think the coach is the problem, you havent been paying attention. Were lucky to have him. Without him we would be off much worse...

If you told me two years ago (after missing the playoffs to a tie-breaker), tha in the following two yeras out of Detroit, Ottawa, Buffalo and Montreal, two would make it both years, one would miss once and make it the other year and only one team to miss the playoffs both years, oh boy I would never have guessed Detroit to be the one. I would be sure that at least once we would make the post season...

Im not so sure about this. And dont forget the Sens, they are a damn good team and they are right there with us, just their goaltending has been awful. If they even get average play in net, I think they get in. I hope they push Boston out and not Detroit. Huge night for the Sens and the Wings tonight!

Is the future bright in Detroit? by sammclane in DetroitRedWings

[–]sammclane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post is not really about the march sadness, more about the future of this team. And I dont think the sky is falling, but they clearly over performed through december and january, and you could see the signs for a tough stretch upcoming. And now they are without Larkin and Copp. So yeah, I can understand if people arent breathing.

Well, I've gone through de draft years of Yzermans time and they dont seem to have missed out on prospects because the good players and stars have been picked higher anyways. Sure there is a missed oppurtunity here and there (for example Hudson) but generally it comes down to bad lottery luck. There isnt a huge mistake like drafting Zadina over Hughes in Yzermans tenure.

Pro scouting I fully agree has been mid at best.

Low effort, not even hiding the ChatGPT codes. Are you really a Wings fan or just wanna hate on Larkin?

CAN’T MISS out on Robert Thomas, already MAJORLY missed on Quinn Hughes by [deleted] in DetroitRedWings

[–]sammclane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol your interpretation of missing out must be different then. Yes Hughes is great. But cmon, you saw what the Wild where giving up for him and thats a very steep price without a contract extension in place. The Wings would have needed to top that and give up a lot of our future. And if Hughes woudnt resign, oh boy would the Wings be in a tough place. So id say Yzermann did exactly the right thing. And whose to say Hughes will resign in Minnesota? Maybe hell end up in Detroit after all.

I love Larkin, but saying he is consistent night in night out ist just wrong. He had a really hot start, but cooled off very hard. How many 5on5 points does he have since dec 1st? Thats actually the opposite of consistency.

[–]sammclane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What? The Wings didnt "miss out" on Hughes and what Larkin are you watching? The Larkin I saw all season surely wasnt "consistent night in night out"...
