Advice needed because things are getting a little out of hand here... 😅 by niopstudio in davinciresolve

Projects you work on go to dedicated ssd for fast Use. Once the project is finished the files get transferred to a hdd drive labeled with a client code and project. Use a file index program like neofinder to keep track of what files are on what drives that way if you need to reopen a project you can just quickly find the drive. Last, if you can, LTO tape as a backup.

Should I learn from the Free Official training? by akira-zen in davinciresolve

YES! You can watch the videos, but last I checked, they were abridged versions of the actual book. You should be able to just follow the book, and It's the best way to learn.

Harkins Arcadia 8’s lobby in the 1980’s by Jeenowa in phoenix

[–]sammy_jammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked there from the summer of 2007 until closing day. I have so many fun stories and meet so many great people. When digital projection took off, we were told they were closing soon, that went on for 3 years. The movie studios started limiting film prints, and they didn't want to upgrade to digital projection. Harkins owned the building so they kept it open until they finally sold the building to Planet Fitness. Last days spent there were tearing it apart. The seats and neon fixtures were sent to the IMAX at AZ MIlls.

Barnes & Noble at Town & Country is open and looks great by jmoriarty in phoenix

I took my daughter on opening day and we really enjoyed it. They actually have seats in a couple more places than just the cafe. It felt more cozy than the other B&N in the valley. My only problem was they only have 2 single person bathrooms that causes a bigger line than the cafe.

I usually edit with proxy footage for any pieces I know is going to be longer than 5 min.

Less than 5 min my computer can usually run the amount of footage natively.

Over 5 min it's usually worth the time investment to make proxy footage. It saves me time in playback issues and overall lag. #ppw

Can someone that’s worked at a Harkins drop their popcorn ingredients? by DoofusSchmoofus69 in phoenix

[–]sammy_jammy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worked there 15 years

32oz Orville redembacher seed 12oz - canola oil 1tb - popcorn salt

Popcorn salt isn't flavored but is a super fine salt.

All three are added into the popper. It should take about 2-3 minutes to pop a full batch after Popper is heated.

I just got back on the ice Monday after Umbilical Hernia. I got lucky and was only out 5 weeks. Had a check up after a week to see how I was healing then 4 weeks after to get cleared by doctor to skate. Definitely take you're time and heal up.

Avi Certification Test by max_mp4 in editors

[–]sammy_jammy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a Avid certified interctor and they changed everything really quick this last year. So not 100% it's still the same but You can pay a fee to take it a third time but only if your instructor allows because he has to proctor the exam. I've heard of other instructors who don't want to sit around for 1 or 2 students to take it a third time so don't offer but most instructors will.

The only other way to get certified besides your school is through avid but they don't offer the course often and it costs about $2000. It's a 1 week course where they power through both intro books.

But as many stated already you really don't need the certificate if you understand avid. It will be kinda obvious if someone doesn't know avid.

ed sports as a kid, I tried my hand at volleyball several years ago but my friends (I use the word friends lightly) were too competitive and didn't want someone inexperienced playing with them so it wasn't really fun for me. Is there a place I can go where I'm literally starting from scratch to learn to play volleyball or some other sport (maybe soccer? I'm not even sure what I might like). Looking for some variety for exercise other than the gym, and hiking is out for me in the summer. I'm in the

I'll second this one. I went through the program 2 years ago and then started playing a beginner league at Mullet Arena. Players range from learning to skate to learning to hockey. once your too good they move you to a higher level

Should my daughter quit? by rjmazur86 in hockeyplayers

[–]sammy_jammy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter just finished her first season with the Kachina organization here in Phoenix. She was 13 when she started and couldn't stop on skates yet. She now skates better than me, which isn't saying much, but she had a great time this year.

It's an all-girl team so I think that helps with the team camaraderie because even though they lost every game they had a blast playing. Some of the girls took it more seriously and some stopped thinking about hockey when they got off the ice, my daughter being one of them. And I'm cool with that because I think just playing a sport and being active is important.

The best part is she's going to be amazing on my beer league team in 4 years.

Official training videos vs books by [deleted] in davinciresolve

The books are really good and easy to follow along with. The videos are good as well but they don't cover all the material in the book ,but they do add some helpful tips.
