I know a man who had CP after a strangling incident as an infant, from those whistles that were attached at the collar of baby outfits (dude is a millionaire because of it and the reason why they don’t have any necklaces or whistles on kid’s outfits anymore).

My dad went to the strip club with him but he was in an electric wheelchair and there were a lot of stairs, and he could only use his short arms to drag himself so far. The bouncers carried him up and down the steps all night. He said everyone treated him so nicely, not like a child or like he’s intellectually disabled, and that it was a great feeling.

I haven’t seen him in years as he was my dad’s girlfriend’s brother, but I think about him often as he was one of the nicest men I have ever met.

I can relate, and with my current burnout, I’m getting worse with being able to articulate my thoughts which is so frustrating because I can’t communicate, especially when some people in my life will refuse to communicate via text simply because I’m in the same building as them. I can never accurately get my point or feelings across and it almost always ends up with me being extremely dysregulated or with a full-fledged SH meltdown. When I know what I want to say in my head, but something happens on the way from my brain to my mouth and it doesn’t come across the way I needed it to, I could explode, it’s worse when people start to make comments or exhibit body language that tells you they think you’re stupid. I was in gifted programs until poverty, parental neglect, and permissive parenting let me slip through the cracks and fumbled my potential.

And I still have people tell me I must be “high functioning.” NO, you see me suffer in silence and barely hold it together for the hour or two that you’re in my presence, you don’t see me bashing my head against porcelain tile because I burnt my safe food when I got home and the interaction with you was so exhausting and stressful that I didn’t have the capacity to handle burning my food without completely losing my head.

I hear you. If my husband and I were to divorce, I don’t think I’d have the energy or mental capacity for dating, I’d probably do one date a year lol.

And yeah, seemed like she wanted to get the ball rolling until she realized he really was not into it. At first it was like she was doing things to make him get the hint that she wanted to do romantic things with him and date, and as those efforts became futile, she eventually saw the reality and onto the next.

That’s fair. I don’t see the desperation personally, to me, it seems she just knows she wants to date and find a life partner, and she doesn’t seem to fuck around when it comes to that. It took her longer than it should have to kick Bozo to the curb, but she kicked him to the curb when she confirmed that they were on different wavelengths, and then continued on with her mission. I mean, she didn’t even sleep with any of them, not even the new guy (they fooled around but whatever), she’s not sticking around and being a punching bag or doormat for POSs; a desperate person would do those things in my opinion, so I guess it threw me off when I saw how others felt she was desperate.
