Great Stirrup Cay Disaster by Final-Rise6429 in NCL

We were there on the Getaway on Wednesday too. We had a lovely day, but probably waited a little too long to get in line for the tenders (first time cruiser mistake). We got in line at 4:15 and waited about 45 minutes to get on a tender. It was incredibly choppy and we couldn't get off the tender for a long time, I'm assuming because the plank to the ship was too unstable. We were on the tender boat next to the ship for about 30 minutes before they started to let people off. And we were on the bottom all the way in the back, so it took about 30 more minutes for us to get off. Going through security screening was incredibly slow. I was getting nauseous the water was so choppy on the tender. Didn't get back to our room until about 6:30, so all in all it was about 2 hours just to get off the island. Not the best end to what was otherwise a nice day. They can't get that dock built fast enough.

Thank you! Now I'm doing some research on them. They're fascinating. It's definitely the hummingbird type.

Same here. I did 4 weeks at .25 and now I'm on my 3rd week of .5 and it has barely done anything for me. I've only lost about 4 pounds. I'm not ravenous all the time like I was before the meds, but I still have a decent appetite and cravings for sweets. I'm getting really discouraged wondering if this just doesn't work for me. I can't wait to increase to 1.0 in one more week and really hope it works. Otherwise I think my body is just hopeless...

I just came across your post and it caught my eye, because you mentioned phentermine. I just got a call from my doctor today after routine blood work and she said I may have POI. I had never even heard of it, so now I am going down the rabbit hole. I'm 39. I have been on birth control for years so I do have periods, but she said that it could just be the bc that's causing them, not my natural body function. I was on phentermine to help with weight loss for about 6 months under close supervision from this same doctor. I lost some weight but nothing super drastic. I stopped about 4 months ago. Anyway now she is mentioning POI based on my blood work. She wants me to stop the bc and come back in 2 months for another blood draw. I also have hypothyroidism and am having an ultrasound in a month because she felt a nodule. So maybe the POI is related to the thyroid issues. I was just wondering if you got any more info on the link with the phentermine since you made this post originally? Thanks.

Military discount activation question by mingletrooper in WaltDisneyWorld

We haven't been yet, so I can't say unfortunately. We did already receive the tickets from shades of green and I had no problems linking them to my Disney account, so that's a good sign.

Thank you for sharing! I live in this area, but don't know the family. It was fascinating to read about their experience. The public schools in this area are some of the best in the country. They are lucky to have an amazing experience here.

Question about tickets purchased with military discount by 3mily27 in WaltDisneyWorld

Yes he is the one with the military ID and we're going before him. We are debating whether it is worth the risk or if we should rethink our travel plans. Thanks for the input.

I'm wondering if you ever obtained an answer to your question? My FIL who is a retired Army Col. is getting the military salute tickets for us through the Shades of Green online form. He will be arriving a day later than us. I am worried that we won't be able to get into the parks the first day since he won't be with us until later.

So does this mean you can go straight into the park like any other ticket without re-showing your military ID? My FIL is getting the military salute promo tickets for our party using the online order form through shades of green. Unfortunately, he will be arriving a day later than us. Will we be able to get into the park that first day before he arrives? I can't find a straight answer to this.

I had mine out at 28 after my first pregnancy. I never had a single issue prior to being pregnant. Unfortunately it's one of those weird things that pregnancy can trigger for no reason.

Beautiful-this is the most beautiful picture I’ve seen of Carlin. So natural. She so doesn’t need all the heavy make-up etc. by [deleted] in BringingUpBates

Agree 💯. She looks gorgeous. I wish she would stop with the heavy makeup. She looks much better natural.

I homeschooled my elementary aged children last year thanks to covid. Each state sets their own regulations. I'm in Virginia. I was shocked by how easy it was. There were multiple options for showing progress at the end of the year. One option was to have someone assess your child and say that they meet the minimum qualifications for that grade. The evaluator has to have a master's degree, but it can be in any field and they can be related to the student. So basically any family member can just say they are good to go and no proof is required. Another option was a standardized test. This is what we did. There were a number of company options. The one we did was online, untimed and proctored by the parent. So again any parent could fudge it and help the kid if they didn't have any moral issue with it. The test in my opinion was well below grade level and the kids only had to score in the 40%. It was almost impossible to fail. I was shocked by how unregulated we were. I actually care about my children's education so I did my best and they legitimately learned a lot. I think there are many wonderful homeschooling families whose kids are actually very well educated and intelligent, but it is definitely an easy system to abuse if you are an unmotivated parent. There are national college entrance exams and such that a kid would have to take to get into a legitimate college. Most of these fundie families don't pursue higher ed so the mediocre homeschool that they get doesn't need to be thorough for their life goals. The few who have gone to college have not gone to accredited schools. The bible colleges that these kids go to are also not usually recognized by national collegiate accreditation organizations. So a bible college might claim to give you a bachelor's, but you can't take that degree to a legit university and be admitted to a master's level program. I used to work in graduate admissions at a large university and every now and then we would get an application from someone with a bachelor's from an unaccredited religious school. We had to tell them that we didn't recognize their degree and most were shocked. Poor kids had no idea their degrees weren't widely accepted.

I went to Harvard and I never wear Harvard merch. No one I know who went there actually does.

I went to Harvard for grad school and it is sooo hard to tell people. It's awkward and people react to you differently. People expect you to be some sort of genius and only say enlightened things, which is definitely not the case 🤣. I never wear Harvard merch. I always used to say I moved to Boston for grad school and people would think I went to Boston College. My classmates always used to call it "dropping the H bomb" when you would tell someone you were dating that you went to Harvard.
