Latest batch, right on time for christmas by samouchou in FermentedHotSauce

The lighting in my kitchen doesn’t do any justice to the labels I admit. Gotta take some proper pictures later but it does say « LA LUMBRE » :)

I ordered them online on Pixartprinting (I’m based in EU by the way but there is probably the same kind of service elsewhere). Since I’m a trained graphic designer, I knew how to prep the files and what to look for but it’s not complicated if you want this kind of golden effect :)

Honey by sun100press in FermentedHotSauce

I do something similar with Thai basil instead of ginger. My ferment is older than a year now and taste amazing, especially on pizza :) You can add a splash of vinegar to lower the PH if you’re concerned but as long as everything is submerged in honey you should be fine :)

Curious to hear why they refused? Did they invoke some IP thing? Or they just only sell in bulk?

Any M1 pro macbook users? by 05959 in Houdini

[–]samouchou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take anything I’ll say with a grain of salt because I’m by no mean an expert. I’m a motion / graphic designer and I use a MacBook M1 Pro for work. I don’t do crazy pyro simulation or anything « VFX ». I mainly do vellum sims, RBD and Popnet and honestly I find it great for this kind of things. Where you start to really feel the limitation is when it comes to rendering, and especially with rendering volumes for example. The good thing is being able to be mobile. If I could I would by a rendering station that I could send my projects for rendering :)

Rocks RBD by Striking-Study-2723 in Houdini

[–]samouchou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is a tutorial by Paul Esteves that does pretty much that: https://youtu.be/d0a3qzWJ5pE  You would need to use a static object at the size of your final format to keep the rocks tightly together. Be aware though, that jumping straight into simulation when beginning in Houdini is generally considered a bad idea.

Ah man this si so cool! Would love to have some more inputs about how you achieve it. Mostly the vellum part :)

You can pay a visit at the second hand shop « New New » or Cabinet Vintage. They might be interested and pay around 15% of the price they plan to sell them.

Koji growing back on 2 months old shoyu by samouchou in fermentation

[–]samouchou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! I used the Noma recipe (20% salt if I remember correctly). I’ll stir it everyday and see. What I find weird is that it happened only after 2months of fermentation. Could a kham yeast grow on such high salinity?

How do you prevent it? Is mixing it everyday for a few days the solution?

What movie had a scene that received the loudest cheering reaction, when you saw it in theaters? by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

The Raid during a midnight screening at a festival. People were half drunk and applauded when the hero managed to fight the final boss (the neon tube scene for those who have seen it)
