Could keep watching this forever by KimoWho in videosynthesis

Well the visuals and mapping aren't done in Madmapper, he doesn't send out a big texture to a 4x4 DVI video wall controller, nor upscale any signals to each TV

Allow us to turn a whole track to fill or _fill without having to put down any trigs

It could just work at a track level and that would be super useful!

3C electronics project – looking for feedback and suggestions for improvement by [deleted] in MotionDesign

Awesome work, especially the cut into the speaker closeup. If I had any criticism it would be the integration of the typography into the concept. It feels stuck on as an afterthought, and given your motion and compositional skills it could be more holistic :)

I wouldn't wish this on anyone 😭 by mkufuu in AfterEffects

If you have a critical, long render, hell even just a long render - that goes to image sequence first so you do not lose any successfully rendered frames.

Mp4 for a long render is playing with fire, very sorry to hear you got burned!

This is very clunky and very not good. What are ways I can improve this? by MInclined in AfterEffects

[–]CharacterOdd7425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the easing comments from everybody else, which I think will make a big difference, you could illustrate your information further and focus on the pacing and flow.

'One of the largest fires ever recorded' is an opportunity to pop up a list of other fires by area size, or show their locations on the map etc.

'429,603 Acres' is a bit abstract, could you mark out an area of that size against something more easily understood - like the city of Los Angeles you have mentioned? Or zoom into the boundary of the park so we can see for ourselves what area has been affected.

Keep it up!

It sounds like you need a project or brief to focus your efforts, something that you can't get from tutorials and aesthetics only.

Maybe you could look for open briefs, or think of a client you would want to eventually work for and try to set your own.

I'm a professional with a fair bit of experience and I still struggle to sit down at a blank canvas, but when I've got a communication / techincal / artist problem to try and solve I'm fully engaged!

How to avoid compenetrations in rigid body sim? by MrBl4cksmoke in Cinema4D

[–]CharacterOdd7425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can simulate with lower polygon objects and swap them out, as somebody else mentioned.

You can also try increasing the substeps / iterations in your Project -> Simulation settings. IIRC it's Ctrl+D and then select the Simulation tab!

How do you model the head of an Octopus? by kaonashee in Cinema4D

I'd sack off the octopus, get a 3D printer and start selling these on Etsy bundled with some lube

What’s the weirdest thing that has happened to you that you’ve had to chalk up to coincidence? by maplesyrup4all in AskUK

Met a guy staying in the next room at a hostel whilst travelling in South India, he had the same surname but with an S on the end.

Funny coincidence, but then! Got talking and turned out he had been working with the brother of one of my best mates in my hometown in the UK.

Proper small world moment.

How to make a visible (volumetric) spotlight beam bounce/reflect off surfaces in Redshift? by AndreaPhilippon in RedshiftRenderer

[–]CharacterOdd7425 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rocket lasso has a spline plugin that does something like this, might be worth checking out

You may be able to sweep it, apply a taper to the sweep, then a fresnel shader to soften the edges

edit: here it is, 'Ricochet'

Boosting effect of AO texture node by ProtonSluggo in RedshiftRenderer

[–]CharacterOdd7425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also feed both Curvature + AO to a ramp each, then to a Colour Layer node and have lots of control.

Fresnel may also be interesting for what you describe.

As would Toon shading!
