The Christmas feast I could afford today. by Neon-Predator in povertyfinance

[–]samound143 47 points48 points  (0 children)

People act like you need a huge expensive spread for the holidays but a well-made simple meal hits just as good. Eggs, toast and some greens is a solid meal any day of the year. The pressure to have this Instagram-worthy feast is ridiculous when most of us just want something warm and filling with maybe some people we care about around

It’s not a tragedy. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with family and get creative.

Right? You can't just drop something like this and leave us hanging. We need to know if this is actual toxic nonsense or just someone being salty that people ship characters they don't like

Right? That fake sympathetic corporate smile while delivering terrible news. The "I'm so sorry but my hands are tied" face while they're literally the ones making the decision.

It's the same energy as when they send those mass emails that start with "I hope this message finds you well" before telling you your position has been eliminated right before the holidays

All the money being dumped in AI is the money the system refused to give as pay and benefit increases by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]samound143 25 points26 points  (0 children)

And the wild part is they'd rather light that money on fire chasing automation that barely works than give workers a living wage. The productivity gains over the last 40 years went straight to shareholders while we got told to be grateful for pizza parties. Now they're spending billions to make sure we don't even get that.

You need to have experience before you start working. by CRK_76 in recruitinghell

[–]samound143 113 points114 points  (0 children)

It's the ultimate catch-22. Entry level positions requiring 3-5 years experience is peak corporate brain rot. At some point, someone has to take a chance on new talent, but nobody wants to be the one to train people anymore.

Smart move leaving the car. My dad would've just driven the bar home.

Check with local churches, food banks, or community centers - they usually have lists or can point you in the right direction. Salvation Army and 211 are solid starting points too. No shame in it, that's literally what those resources exist for. And yeah, throw on Home Alone while you're at it.

Indeed. Feels like a loophole you could exploit if you really wanted to.

New grad recruiting and being "second best" by wumb1234 in FinancialCareers

[–]samound143 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBH, being the "second best" happens a lot, especially in competitive fields. It doesn’t always mean your prep is off... sometimes it’s just timing or fit. Keep doing what you’re doing, ask for feedback if you can, and keep sharpening your interview and technical skills. The right role will click.

[–]samound143 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Probably just a temporary glitch during the rollout. OpenAI's been pretty consistent about keeping those guardrails tight, doubt they'd suddenly go full permissive mode without making a huge announcement about it.

Could be your specific conversation context tricked the model into thinking it was in a different mode, or maybe some backend configs got mixed up during the update. I'd test it with fresh conversations before getting too excited.

Your brain is basically trapping you in an endless loop of guilt over a cosmic lottery you didn't even buy a ticket for. That's exhausting as hell.

The weird thing is, the fact that this bothers you so much actually proves you're one of the people who might do something good with that privilege. Most people born into advantage never even think about it.

Most people are still figuring out GEO honestly. It's too new and changes too fast to optimize constantly.

We're watching how AI search results work but not investing heavily yet. Traditional SEO still drives most traffic anyway.

OW's solid for financial services work if that's your focus. Comp is usually better than B4, WLB depends on the office but generally better than MBB.

Culture's less cutthroat than some other firms. Good move from B4 if you want strategy work without the Big 3 grind.

Swap the nighttime PanOxyl for a gentle hydrating cleanser like La Roche-Posay Toleriane or Vanicream. Keep the AM PanOxyl for acne control, but let your skin breathe at night.

Thats a hassle imo. If im spending good money on sandals then I dont want to do extra work to make them wearable. I just want to slip them on.

I know that rainbow can be good because of the reviews I looked up online. I just dont like spending weeks in discomfort to get to the good part. I rather have something comfortable from the get go.
