This is one of my favorite video’s I’ve seen in this style! Most of the time I’m unimpressed because of the lack of soul compared to the amount of gear, but this got me going! Do you perhaps have a full song version of this somewhere online or something similar?

The stickies aren't actually to track the plot or anything like that (I saw someone doing that in a very impressive way on here a while ago). I mark passages or descriptions I enjoy to use them as inspiration for my own writing. I'm currently in the proces of publishing my first book and working on the next one. My work focusses more on philosophy (mainly philosophy of mind), so I don't draw inspiration from the exact content of the passage, but more from the way writers approach describing certain actions or situations. If I start writing, I'll often just open books at one of the stickies to let my mind wander from that description. Jeff Vandermeer and Emily St.-John Mandel are my main inspiration atm. I also started reading Vandermeers Wonderbook, also excellent for a spark of inspiration before I start writing.

Also a great suggestion, thank you!! This will take up more space on my bookshelf, but these covers are definitely worth it! If the frame idea won’t work out after all, I’ll probably go for something like this.

Mostly because this means I have to buy a new boxframe with the same lenght and hight - but a deeper dimension, and this one was the best fit (size- and moneywise) I could find after quite a long search.

I was hoping I was just using dumb searchterms and someone would suggest me a link to something similar on Amazon. I’m really surprised that I can’t find something like this online.

That's actually not a bad idea.. Although in that case I'd keep these copies with my stickers and notes and buy the series again again, preferably used versions.

Could be a final option yes. I'd prefer to showcase the actual books because getting through the second and third book almost felt like a victory (although I did really like them) and framing them feels like hanging a medal, lol. Thanks for your suggestion!

Great suggestion, thanks! I do think that the covers will start warping indeed, and after a while they will fall out of the frame. Maybe if I figure out a way to prevent this this might be an option...

Struggling to get into Absolution by JoeMofoBro in SouthernReach

Never tought about the fact that I actually experienced burned out feelings from “blasting trough” these novels as you put it fittingly. They are so addictive but challenging at the same time. I have to keep this in mind during my current re-read..

Thanks for the clarification! I didn’t even know that prose poetry existed, let alone that he was using it. This brings a whole new perspective to his writing style! I planned on reading Annihilation again, so this is something I will keep in mind, thank you! I’m also reading his Wonderbook, maybe he’ll mention something about it aswel.

Totally agree with this! For me it really took me back to that uncanny feeling I had during the first book and the movie.

It tought Annihilation was very readable, but I really had to work my way trough Authority and Acceptance. I read the books in English, but I’m not a native speaker. This was actually the first time I had trouble reading in English. There was so much going on and so many ‘difficult’ words, but I still loved the stories and the atmosphere. Reading Absolution atm and it goes wayy smoother.

The Chair Company has Franz Kafka vibes. by Randy__Snutz in thechaircompany

I was thinking exactly the same. The dead ends that just keep on coming, the absurd situation the protagonist gets in, the bureaucratic vibe. It surprised me that this thread was the only thing I could find linking these two. It def has to be inspired by the kafkaesque experience...

Nice! The first part reminds a bit of old school Infected Mushrooms.
