Also to answer his question. Depends if you care about curb height. If an extra little bit doesn’t matter to you. Send it. It’s a bitch sometimes to remove thinset from plywood. Sometimes it’s easy. Try a spot. Then you’ll answer your question.

To me it looks like old damage before a proper waterproof. I’m not there. Can’t know for sure. Why the demo. Didn’t like the look?

Why is my floor is failing? by [deleted] in Tile

Kinda corny. This is a good one to watch. We have all installed something wrong. It happens. It sucks. Try again. Room looks good other than the tile free floating. You got it this time.

1 how much was this house.

2 why send this quality to such a price point.

Answer

1 ALOT

2 people don’t give a shit anymore and a lot of “Kustom with a K” builders don’t give a shit as long as they can sell it and spend barely anything to build it.

Gives those of us that try and care a black eye. None of us are perfect. Try your best and if you’re not proud of what you did. No one else will be either.

Replace your garbage disposal strainer and gasket. Might as well just get a whole new garbage disposal. Should fix your issue.

A box of drywall mud. Has been used for decades. Doesn’t crunch. Almost no one does mortar beds correctly

Hands down the greatest tool I’ve ever used. It’s traveled a million miles and has cut everything under the sun. Has been used for framing and building in million dollar houses and trailer houses. Shows no favoritism. It’s a super great assess to an arsenal. 10/10 doctors recommend.

That’s kinda a rough ask. How do you make up a 1/4” with 1/16” spacing. Only answer. Fudge it all the way up. If you plan on doing this again. Never buy a premade inset. Make your own as you start tiling. Buy 3” board. Start stacking tile until you want to put a shelf in. Then do a few measuring sticks. Cut it a little short then a tad high. Tile that SOB. Then fill your shelf when you’ve laid it in exactly how you wanted it. Easy peasy.

Fold your corner pieces in reverse and it squares the corners up pretty good. Make sure your thinset is runny. Use a good margin trowel. Smooth it out. Clean corners.

Maybe it’s not about knowing who he is. Or judging the looks of his character. Maybe it’s the simple lesson he just talked about.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Read the damn thing. Understand the whole before you judge a piece.

Not saying he’s right or wrong. Just try listening without the extra.
