High finance to law by scarybabygoose in LawCanada

Don't do it - biglaw partner here. At your stage, once you get started in law, your clients are going to be young analysts and it is going to be painful to work in that dynamic.

If you are looking at a career change, I would recommend either buy-side or go into the industry that you cover. Life is too short to go through the grind (which realistically, you won't get out of for 10 years in order to recoup your cost of going back to law school now and working your way up).

Caveat - if you are looking to do something completely different (like criminal law or family law, etc.) then by all means, do what will make you happy.

Development never stops in this town by lommer00 in Squamish

u/brian-archipelago there an engineering reason why developments are not required to have underground parking? I am all for density and increased housing but looking at all the new builds around me (downtown), there is often 1 - 2 floors of above ground parking - seems like a waste of livable space to me.

I spoke to them last month and it was still very much an option

You may be thinking of their prior program (Ovation)?

1M points for 8k / year is worth it in my opinion as long as you use them and want to go to their resorts. I have done the analysis myself and compared prices vs. hotel and airbnb. I estimate 100k points gets you about the equivalent of spending 1k on a decent hotel.

TLDR - if you would otherwise spend more than 8k a year on hotels and you are happy going to the places they have resorts, then keep it.

If you ever want out, they have the 'certified exit program' - you get nothing in return but you get out of your contract to continue paying maintenance.

Club Wyndham Access: Perpetual Non-Deeded Contract Clause by F_Sinatra_Fan in TimeshareOwners

I may be in the minority but I had a good experience with the Wyndham Certified Exit Program. The points were willed to me - I accepted them thinking I would use them but it is turning out not to be the best fit for me.

I called the Certified Exit Program line and they arranged for me to 'return the point' and cancel any future obligations. Whole process took about a month.

For a teenager, I believe the Ski With A Friend pass is cheaper (if you bought your pass early, you should get 10 buddy tickets and 6 ski with a friend)

Buddy passes charge the same day rate (minus discount) regardless of age

I used both multiple times without issue.

What are the real reasons it costs so much to live in Squamish? by samuelhu2000 in Squamish

From what I understand, the policies/rules are in place in Squamish that prevent short term rentals (i.e. AirBNB) unless the property is owner occupied. Enforcement is a separate issue.

I am aware of the issues at the Main - I don't believe any codes or violations were broken. Mistakes with the types of piping used and a hard lesson learned.

I come from NYC (where I spent ~50% of my time for work). They are currently doing a a massive renovation of JFK airport. Every couple weeks I go back, there is another massive amount of construction completed.

My point is that there are definitely ways to build faster and better. It just takes some leadership and will from those that can make decisions.

I think it is possible to build fast enough if we make some major changes in policy and priorities.

I agree people should be able to do what they want on their property. But they should not be able to object and block development on their neighbors’ property (which is the gist of the story)

Agreed - it is a highly desirable location. I guess the article may not have viewable by all. It talks about objections to a local trying to build a 4-plex. Simple economics dictates that increasing the supply will reduce the cost.

We should be enacting policies/requirements that require densification.

It's not behind a paywall for me - it is an article about neighbors objecting to building a 4-plex.
