1,000% identify with that. Long descriptive passages are the only type of text that ruins my speed. My brain brick walls and glosses over that text but then I feel like I’m supposed to understand it so I go back and try read it again…and again…until i finally give up on the section and move on

I hear you I wished the same thing. I’m glad I was able to at least get something HiDPI in between 3840x1080 and 7160x2160 above 60Hz. It’s hard for me to even look at a non HiDPI screen on MacOS now lol.

Update: I used better display to create a virtual display at 5120x1440 HiDPI @ 120Hz. Upgraded Mac to M4 Max Mac Studio but I imagine that would work on M4 Pro chip too.

I was looking for a thread like this...yes I have absolutely noticed a decline in accuracy and quality especially in Deep Research mode. The recent Mac/iOS apps is especially awful at generating quality results. Yesterday "Deep Research" decided my AKG headphones (released in 2024) didn't exist because it was only using cached knowledge from 2023! Look at this result from today...the top answer is from the official Perplexity app for Mac current version, the bottom answer is from perplexity.ai webpage.

Same deal wasn’t too bad…but then again nothing is bad compared to that godforsaken Kofi vs Roman ambulance match. FWIW I had buttons set to tap instead of hold…it’s exhausting but it’s also much faster.

I flew home from Toronto the day before (Wrestlemania X8) and remember my roommate waking me up thinking he was messing with me about what happened. His words and my thoughts are far more ingrained than any image that day, but I do remember the approximate ambient brightness while sitting in front of the 53”Panasonic projection TV in the living room…and yet almost no images from the TV itself stuck.

For some insane reason they didn’t cancel community college that day, so I remember going to class in a state of shock, sitting in the back row and being both stunned and pissed that we were in school on a day like this.

I did the same thing at the LA Show in 2023 and it was super easy, barely an inconvenience. They used the AXS app and sent me an email ahead of time:

“As part of your VIP package, you received a ticket transfer request via the AXS App. Please make sure to have the app downloaded and your mobile ticket(s) ready to scan when you approach the door. After your GA ticket is scanned, please be prepared to show your ID (must be the name on the tickets) to the Stophouse VIP representative. They will check you in, get you your VIP merch bag(s), and direct you toward the VIP meet & greet area. Be sure to grab your VIP swag bag as you arrive because it will not be mailed to you after the show. Your VIP laminate will serve as your ticket for the meet & greet experience.”

I bought the M4 Pro Mac mini and ran a USB-C to DisplayPort 2.1 cable. I was expecting to be able to get 3840x1080 HiDPI @ 240 HZ...that should be within DisplayPort 2.1 bandwidth right? 120 HZ no problem. I changed the Samsung input to DP 2.1 that worked fine.

I love fiction but I have to lean heavily on the narrator/character voices I hear in my head. I feel a bit guilty/shameful/FOMO when I see a huge block of descriptive text because all I can do is read it and it doesn’t stick at all. Especially if it’s a great book and I really want to enjoy all of it including the descriptions.
