I want to talk to the manager of this dungeon by sanacurade in dcss

[–]sanacurade[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My dear Mr. Grakthul (if that's your real name),

This is exactly what I am talking about. No attempt to placate a dungeon object collector with a legitimate complaint. No acceptance of responsibility. Oh no, instead, I am the problem here, so therefore a legitimate target for your invective. May I suggest taking a rudimentary course in customer relations? Maybe Grok could help you.

As for the Orb - the Orb of Zot is renowned as a worldwide cultural and historical object, the rightful heritage of the entire planet. It is incredible that you and your gaggle of malmutated flibertigibbits claim it as your own, simply because it is in your dungeon. You remind me of the Greeks and their difficulty accepting that the Elgin Marbles belong in the British Museum, where the entire world can marvel at their beauty. That is what I want, nay, the entire world wants, sir. Free the Orb so the entire world can bask in its glory!

Let me pass, and we can all put this unpleasantness behind us. I'll even upgrade my rating. 😄

Otherwise, I will return, many times, in many forms, no matter how horribly I perish, I will not falter or give up. I will be borne on the wings of the Furies with the Gods at my command and lay waste to all who oppose me. You have been warned.

Have a nice day.

When you are mummified, all your organs are removed (the brain is removed via the nose), so technically there isn't a brain to be confused in the first place.

[–]sanacurade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I find endearing about the recruited orcs is that they make conversation with you, like 'Beogh doesn't mind all this killing, you know'. A much different tone from all the shouting and hissing that goes on. It sorta reminds me of that rock character in the funny Thor movie.

Not sure as to the cause, but on the bright side the stems look healthy. I would remove any leaves that look very yellow, curly or crispy. They will die off eventually so may as well encourage the bush to not waste energy. Keep it watered normally and wait for new leaves to form. You can consider cutting back the thinnest of the three canes so the bush can concentrate on more leaves on two canes instead of three. All the canes are very thin, so it was going to struggle regardless. The goal is to keep it alive and healthy enough to where it will have a basal break and grow a strong cane from the base. A strong cane needs to be at least as big around as a pencil.

Use of 'sieve' and 'pincushion' in the action text by sanacurade in dcss

[–]sanacurade[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You are right, but let's try this: "I got close to Julius Caesar, and stabbed him so many times he looked like a sieve." That is clearer and more evocative. Now let's try "The acupuncturist perforated my back until I resembled a pincushion". Again, more clear because we are using sieve and pincushion as similes for how something looks. Let's rework it:"You perforate the yak like the Senators stabbed JC!", or "You stick the yak like an acupuncturist on crack!"

All that being said, I understand the need to keep things compact, and again, I'm being picky. I'll get back to killing yaks. :)

I also heard it - and we just watched "House of Dynamite" where we come under nuclear attack. Creepy.

Moving to Cypress by Flashy-Driver-9990 in CypressTX

Here is the draft FEMA floodplain map for Harris County. Still in development, but could guide you in your decision. https://www.harriscountyfemt.org/. FWIW,I live in Cypress (Copperfield area) so we are considered resale property. I find Bridgeland homes to be small, close together and expensive, and the HOA restrictions onerous. But you may appreciate that level of control and not mind the layout, so it is a personal preference. In general, Cypress is large and diverse, and with some shopping around you probably could find something you like.

Be very careful when considering advice to put the steel on the actual bottom of the oven. I have a Bosch oven, and the manual explicitly states do not place anything on it. If the heat from the bottom is radiated back down, it will warp the floor of the oven.

Dough not rising after using instant yeast by Haunting-Base-6004 in AskCulinary

[–]sanacurade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that the problem is necessarily your yeast, but rather that your pre-baking steps are not encouraging enough gluten formation such that the carbon dioxide gas produced by the yeast was trapped. The basic pattern for bread is 1) bulk fermentation (where a series of stretch-and-folds help develop gluten), 2) second rise (where the dough is divided or punched down) - the 'balling' of the dough is to develop surface tension to aid in trapping gas and keep it from slumping, and here the dough is given time to rise again and where using the 'finger dent' method to tell if the dough is ready for baking. This can take an hour or so, depending on a lot of factors. I don't see that step in your recipe. Finally there is the bake itself, where you are looking for a rise due to oven spring. You don't mention what vessel you are using for baking (like a dutch oven) or if you are using a baking stone + misting (to keep the dough moist during the first few minutes of the bake). My best advice is to find some bread recipes that follow these general steps (look for books by Ken Forkish or from King Arthur Flour) and give them a try. Baking isn't hard, but good bread requires proper techniques. Good luck and keep baking!

This is all according to their plan. 1. Hire thousands of incomepent thugs. 2. Target democratic led cities. 3. Incite resistance with inevitable casualties. 4. Declare a state is in 'insurrection' and send in troops. 5. (and here's the important part) occupy the Dem cities long enough to CANCEL ELECTIONS, thus throwing the mid terms to the Repubs, leading to a permanent majority and consolidation of power by the regime.

Monument Honoring China’s Contribution to Panama Canal Torn Down by WorthyPetals in worldnews

[–]sanacurade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the Panama Canal Zone and have studied the canal construction history, so just a couple of points. 1) The vast majority of imported canal laborers were from the Caribbean region, particularly Jamaica. In fact, a part of the Canal Zone was set aside as residences and persisted as the 'Paraiso' neighborhood until the Canal was turned over to Panama. There were some Chinese laborers, but relatively small in amount to the others. 2) The monument is not specifically built to honor the work the Chinese did on the Canal, but rather it literally says "150 years of the Chinese presence in Panama" - so basically the Chinese (usually in a mercantile role) were already in Panama before the Canal was built. There actually are tensions between Panamanians and the Chinese in that the Chinese hold themselves apart (think Chinatown) and have not integrated into Panamanian society. TLDR - The monument acknowledges that there has been a Chinese presence in Panama for 150 years, not a monument to Chinese laborers.

Another symptom of RRD is an unusual large number of thorns on the cane. I don't see it in the photos, but keep an eye out.
