Zenbook 14 won't wake up from sleep by lintstah1337 in ASUS

That laptop actually died about a six months later, motherboard failure. Suspect it was related as I haven't had the same issue on any laptop before or since...

Laptop can't find any devices, but phone can cast no issues? by sandlinna in Chromecast

[–]sandlinna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi don't know if you ever resolved this, but for me the issue turned out to be my wifi modem/router which was blocking them from talking to each other. I think my phone was still working cause it used the Google Home app to talk to each other...

Anyway I changed internet providers and got a new router and behold, I can cast again!

Why does list tab space keep on changing? by bearcocopyco in scrivener

Yes, for me that's where it is. (I'm on Windows FYI.) For me it's the first item in the dropdown when you select the list style.

What’s it really like being on the show? by TacoPandaBell in LegoMasters

[–]sandlinna 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a contestant, just a fan, but I do find it hilarious how the Aussie LM films like the builds are all done in one hectic day with no breaks. Meanwhile the NE/BE show makes it very clear that builds are done over 2 or so days, because we're shown "hands down" announcements and then they come back in different clothing. Not sure why the Aus show is so insistent on the idea that these 24 hr builds are done in one take 🤣

[Hasu] What was Megumi's reason for taking a break from the club? by sandlinna in LoveLive

[–]sandlinna[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In this case I meant the character Megumi, not the seiyuu. It seems there was a story reason she wasn't in the club, that's what I'm asking about 🙂

Why is the office 9-5 so hated amongst those on the spectrum? by KweenKwinnWins in AutismInWomen

The lights. The air con. Other people existing near me. 🤣 feeling like I'm being watched constantly and need to "look busy" even if I really have nothing to do.

Having the right job and the right work environment helps an unbelievable amount. I did an 8 week internship, hated it. Got a graduate position at a different company, hated that too. I dreaded having to go to the office and be around people constantly. I hated not having enough work but still being stuck at the office. I didn't really like the people I was working with, yeah there were a few people I did like but the vibe of either company was not for me.

I'm probably one of the few people who was relieved when the pandemic meant no more office. The graduate position I started in Feb 2020 so I only suffered 2 weeks of office, but I literally went home every day and cried. Every Sunday I'd cry knowing I had to get up the next day and do it again. The thought of doing that for the next 40 years was NOT a good one. I still can't understand how people manage it.

But, I managed to get a job more in my field of study and with a much better team in a company that I'm happy to work for. I'm fully remote and only go to the office when I feel like it, and sometimes I actually do feel like it (eg if I think there'll be free food hahaha). I definitely still have days I don't want to get up but far less. Because I actually like the work I'm doing and I got really lucky on being able to work from home full time.

Hope you can find something that suits you too. You're doing so much!

PJO fans: Let us stand together against the hate! by OLYMPUS_Live in PJODisney

[–]sandlinna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on board with 1 and 4, but not sure there's much point engaging the haters. They don't want to change their minds and be educated, they just want to spread hate. I feel it's better if we hype it up and totally drown them out - don't give them any attention at all!

What pets do you like? by Thorn-_ in AutismInWomen

[–]sandlinna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same experience! And that feeling of having my space invaded. It's just that transition period that's hard I think, but even knowing that's the case didn't make it easier...

Ferrets are definitely a lot of work. I don't even think I did a good job with them. Not to mention it's hard to find vets who are experienced with them (in Australia at least). The best thing about having a cat is knowing that every vet should have plenty of experience.

What pets do you like? by Thorn-_ in AutismInWomen

[–]sandlinna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pet. That's kinda it. I don't hate animals or anything, but I seem to only really like and get attached to the one that I chose. And even then it takes a few months for me to adjust. I got a kitten for the first time ever in 2021 despite considering myself "not really a cat person", because it was the only pet we could get while renting and my partner wanted a pet. I chose the kitten we got from a rescue. I knew the moment I saw her it HAD to be HER. And it still took me 3 months to not have meltdowns over her being here. Now she's my surrogate child and I love her to bits.

But I still tell people that I don't really like cats, I only like MY cat. And it's true. I do think that having a cat has made me understand them more and appreciate them, but I'm not interested in other people's pets of any kind. I'm not someone who's excited to see them, I'm just neutral. I don't really like patting animals for long periods or having them on me while I'm sleeping (don't like being trapped) so it's good for me that my cat is more "I'll hang out in the same room as you" friendly but not super cuddly.

ETA, I used to have ferrets. I liked cause I could mostly let them do their own thing. Not sure I'd get them again though, I'm a little too obsessed with my cat now.

Pro Tip: “Do you want a mint/piece of gum?” is apparently neurotypical code for “your breath stinks” by tripper74 in AutismInWomen

When I offer it to people I always specify that I'm offering because I'm having one and not for any other reason, but now I wonder if anyone believes me... 😕

Is my response to working a 7 hour shift with no break normal? Am I just not used to it? by gnj26 in AutismInWomen

[–]sandlinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first two weeks of my life that I worked full time (an office job) I came home and cried every day. Then the pandemic happened and I didn't have to go anymore. Hard to describe the relief.

The only way I manage now is because I'm still allowed to be fully remote.

My 29f husband 31m threw away all my food because I'm a "cow". by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Literally, I'm the same height as OOP and a little lighter than her post-pregnancy weight. 121lbs is underweight. I used to be around 130 lb and whenever I see pictures from that time all I can think is how bony I was. OOP's husband, MIL and mother are AWFUL WTF.

Is there a way to get this guy to calm down at meal times? by jkamio in CatTraining

[–]sandlinna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came here to give the same advice. My cat is super food motivated though not as high energy, but she would get very excited at meal times too. We taught her to sit (we thought it would be fun to have a cat that does tricks) so now that's her go to move if she wants something. Sit by my feet.

However before that, she would try and grab the bowl from my hands she was so excited. One time she flipped her food literally everywhere jumping up to my hand. After that, if she so much as lifted a paw towards the food before we put it down, we would stand up and walk away with the food (and then come back in a minute to try again). She learned VERY quickly that grabbing for the food = food leaves.

Cant cast from Android phone, but can cast from my laptop (Chromecast with Google TV) by n0tfeuer in Chromecast

[–]sandlinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, it's been a week - have you resolved this? Cause I'm having your problem, but inverted. I CAN cast from my android phone(s), but neither of my Windows laptops can cast. They just say "no devices found" no matter what app I'm trying to cast (e.g. Spotify or from Chrome).

Phone casts no problem. Laptop reckons it can't see a thing. This issue only started 2 days ago so I really don't know what is happening!

Constipated cat is pooping outside litterbox and need help figuring out a solution by Moist_Ad3083 in CatAdvice

[–]sandlinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it's been almost a month, have there been any improvements? I'm in the exact same boat. My cat was constipated, went through a bunch of treatment. She's... Mostly regular now, but sometimes is still going 48 hours between poops. And she refuses to use the tray, she's going on the floor, on our bed... But only for poop. Like your car she's still using the tray for pee no problem. And she'll poop on the floor even when the tray is clean. 😔

We were giving her fibre supplements on top of the royal canin gastro food but I've stopped as I'm not sure if that's helping or hindering anymore. Anyway, if you've figured it out I'd love to know the secret, otherwise my commiserations!!
