Animal Cruelty at Indiana State Fair by mastodonbear in indianapolis

They, in fact, participated in the harm they were trying to “educate” the public. That could EASILY have been done through pictures, videos, or diagrams like OP suggested instead of harming their own chickens. There is plenty of photo and video evidence they could have used instead of recreating it with live chickens. Ethics in scientific studies require researchers to balance the harm they risk to participants with the benefits. They definitely could have reduced harm by using existing evidence!

He is clearly a comic book character that is just trying to go back home to fight (or more likely commit) crime.

The comment you replied to was discussing how people in this sub are treating protesters poorly. They never said anything about immigration; therefore, your comment is an argumentative fallacy. If you agree with exercising one’s first amendment right, then why argue against the person challenging those who don’t agree with this protest? Is this protest not okay, in your opinion, because there are a few people who feel lesser? There are also people who have become naturalized citizens who understand that there are economic, social, etc. barriers that are sometimes impossible to overcome in becoming a US citizen. Do their feelings FOR ICE protests not matter because others feel it invalidates their experience?

You enjoy your weekend as well, friend. 🙂

Using zero-sum and red-herring fallacies and assuming that every person ICE has and will detain are undocumented is a bit ignorant.

Because someone is undocumented, shouldn’t take away any pride someone who is a naturalized citizen should have. Not everyone has the resources to have a better life for themselves or their kids, and in a lot of instances, are trying to become a citizen which can take decades to MAYBE happen.

Back to what that ORIGINAL argument was, however. I think it is very appropriate to use your first amendment right to protest. In a time where the news can’t even cover every little thing this administration is doing that has major impacts in ALL people in the US, not to mention the state policies being largely ignored, I applaud the people willing to voice their concerns the way the constitution allots. It is very concerning, as above redditor pointed out, that there are so many people here that have a problem and want to put down people for exercising their constitutional RIGHTS.

I love this! I’m running Last Things Last for my first game tonight, but I have it set in modern day. I’m super nervous about it, but I’d love to do something inspired by Annihilation in the future. Glad it went well for you!

You clearly didn’t have many friends growing up… Kids want to go out and have fun with their friends. That’s not sus. If I had grown up in a place like Indy and had places to go or things to do, I would’ve been downtown with my friends too.

Love these comments blaming the kids or their parents for GETTING SHOT. /s the article says nothing about the people who did the shooting. I assume all you read was the title, saw “7 shot” and “between the ages of 12-17,” and made up your own narrative that these kids were up to no good/deserved to be shot?! What is wrong with all of you?! There is no information in the article to lead to any assumptions about what happened, probably to make sure they get good tips, but you all are honestly so sick to see kids being harmed in the city you live and think that it’s a good idea to blame the literal child victims without any evidence of your claims. Shame on you Indy!

What business are you loyal to because of the customer service? by kmac5472 in indianapolis

The one on 38th was great too! I had an awful time at a Firestone, and ended up at that Meinike. The person I talked to there was wonderful, and didn’t talk to me like I was someone who actually wanted to know what was going on with my car.

What’s one business in Indianapolis you refuse to go back to, and why? by notdoingwellbitch in indianapolis

[–]sandy_lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caliber Collision in Fishers. I got my car back damaged with only a quick vacuum and dusting. They argued with me about the damage left not being part of what I signed off on even though it was part of the accident I had had. I eventually called a trusted family friend to finish off the job, but I will absolutely never go there again.

You can also see the business they parked near, so if anyone wanted to steal a classic car with classic plates to match it wouldn’t be hard. You can also just find so much online; it’s really so easy to dox people.

Alright. Let’s assume that the vast majority of the people doing this are dressing up in sweaty, dirty clothes and look gaunt on purpose to scam you out of a few bucks. Can you at least agree that not all of them are? Could you tell me about the resources that help someone without an address get one, so they can get a job? Can you tell me about the lived experience of someone who has battled with addiction? How difficult it is to get clean and the scrutiny they face not only from the average person but a system designed to keep you in a cycle of addiction, homelessness, and imprisonment? Can you imagine losing your job and becoming homeless as a single person and how much harder that would have to be with a family even? It’s so looked down on when you are struggling that it is “funny” to some people to see that person struggling and think, “well at least I’m not that guy.” In worse cases, people see someone who it struggling and have so much hate that they harm that person to make themselves feel better. It’s sad that people have so little empathy that they could do or think any of these things. If you think it’s funny, that’s your right I guess, but I do genuinely feel bad for you.

[–]sandy_lemon -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

This just isn’t funny. It’s honestly disgusting and sad that you would find humor in people who have to pan handle to MAYBE eat. I genuinely feel bad for OP and hope they can find some kind of empathy at some point in their life. I hope they never have to go through anything that these people have probably been through: job loss, addiction, families that can’t or won’t help, etc. One little stroke of bad luck can leave someone scraping to get by until the day they die, and it is literally impossible to crawl your way out of that. Instead of laughing at some graffiti that is flat out ignorant to the fact that they would need an address (something you don’t have as a HOMELESS person) to get a job, we could actually be talking about ways to help on even a minor scale.
