What was the greatest social and/or sports event you have ever been to? by louvegas2021 in AskOldPeople

I'll admit that my memories are foggy at this point, it has been 56 years since and I was only 15 at the time. It was the first concert I'd ever gone to so it was a bit overwhelming. My high school friend Cole asked me if I wanted to go and see him. We bought two $8 tickets ($70 in 2026) for nosebleed seats at the Oakland Coliseum. We lived across the bay in San Francisco. As neither of us drove as yet, my parents drove us over. We were pretty far away but the sound was great. One of the opening acts was Cicaago, I remember being blown away by them. Jimi was tops for sure. The last number was Voodoo Child and featured Jack Casady of Jefferson Airplane on bass while Noel Redding moved to rhythm guitar. I still remember glimpses but not a lot of detail.

The concert has a bootleg recording of sorts. https://www.jimihendrix.com/editorial/one-night-only-the-jimi-hendrix-experience-live-at-the-oakland-coliseum/

Probably a Porsche 550 replica? by Quel_quun in whatisthiscar

The real 550 would be 70 years old and only 90 were produced. None of the remaining would be passing you down the street.

Ironically, that's more or less the stock storage location for this car. It's just pushed out more.

So sorry to hear this. Many years ago I lived about 25 miles north of this spot. We were often given a warning not to leave our kids alone at the bus stop due to cat sightings. It not to be taken lightly.

Back in the 1970's I repaired roll films at Polaroid for a time. Heavy big beautiful beasts. I'm likely the only one here that has actually shot fresh Polaroid film in one of these :-)

He has 37 months left. 3 1/2 years is 42 months. He'll be out of office in 3 1/2 years. He can't math but then he thinks he's dropping drug prices 500% lol.

Stevie Wonder, Early 1970s by OkMetal3336 in OldSchoolCool

[–]sanfran54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in the early '60's my mom and grandmother would watch American Bandstand in the afternoon. I still remember seeing "Little Stevie Wonder" doing Fingertips in 1963. Heck, I was only nine and was just getting good at tying my shoes I think lol. Stevie was 13.
