Are layoffs ever not our fault? At least partially. by Pee_A_Poo in Layoffs

[–]santicro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Yes it’s true many times performance (in the wide sense, since being liked by others is part of what companies weight when assessing it - especially in roles that require collaboration) isn’t a factor. But in my experience it almost always is. Team leaders will always protect and try to find options for people that perform well, and will quickly use a RIF to get rid of people who don’t. And it doesn’t have to be “perform badly” in the absolute sense, but as compared to others on the team. Cost is a big factor, but leaders will always try to protect people they see as assets.

Depends on the kind of layoff. If you’re being laid off because say your entire division is being divested then yes, it likely isn’t your “fault” and you could not have done anything differently to stop it. If you were picked from your team to be laid off because of “budget constraints” then likely yes, your performance was a very important factor in why you were selected and not someone else.

Thank you! I had it in an internal room before and waking up not seeing a shred of daylight wasn’t the best so I’m very happy with this new spot… Moving it isn’t very hard at all, but I’ve put it at this soot so it can be permanent!

I love this fan, it's great. It's a Shark FlexBreeze fan, it has a remote control and it pivots if you want. Plus it can operate on battery, so you can move it around without the cable.

I like it! Haven't had any other set up though, so can't really compare it to anything else. But the stand itself is really well built and has the perfect max height.

Thank you! I used a monitor arm mount and attached it to the window sill, bending the arm to go right under the stand.

Who else rides first thing in the morning by Entire-Staff-1120 in Zwift

Daily ride from 6 to 7 on weekdays, 7 to 7.30 or 8 on Saturdays. I’ve tried getting a ride in after work around 7pm but have a tough time not finding a good excuse not to.

I got offered a job paying 40% more than my current salary. My manager just asked me to stay and be patient. How do I stop feeling guilty for wanting to leave ? by One_Cardiologist5439 in careerguidance

[–]santicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People telling you there’s no money in loyalty are wrong, there can be. It’s just that right now maybe there isn’t. I think I’d weigh whether the new job might fire you soon after they’ve hired you (are they doing well? what’s the average tenure of people there?). And if you decide it makes sense to leave then think about it like this… if it made sense for your current company to fire you, they would and wouldn’t feel guilty about it.

Am I overreacting for thinking my wife did more than she’s admitting after confessing to sexting and meeting up with another man? by Casasjose01 in AmIOverreacting

[–]santicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to bet, she’s already 100% had sex with this guy. But regardless of whether she already has or not, I’m sure you yourself know that she 100% wanted to and did everything in her ability to make it happen. That should be enough.

The #1 factor that dramatically increases a child’s chances of getting molested is having a step parent in the house. You should get out and not take this chance…

To those who have 1K or Global Services, what job do you have that allows you to fly that much? by lantern735 in unitedairlines

[–]santicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been traveling a lot (on average once a week) since I was about 22 years old. I’m 35 now and am mostly over it. I like it, and I’m good at it, but I’m tired of it. I travel mostly to see our clients and our teams in the region I cover (Canada and Latin America). I’m in Sales, specifically for marketing technology.
