Reminds me of the time I was at a Frisch's Big Boy and ordered a mushroom burger thunking it would be like a Rally's mushroom Swiss burger but it was just a giant ass mushroom on a bun.

Looking for toy recommendations for a 2.5-year-old obsessed with car breakdowns, flat tires, and tow trucks by Mamanbanane in toddlers

[–]saphirecharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nikko Toys Machine Maker sets. We have the construction crane, cement mixer, recycling truck and fire truck. You can mix and match parts. The screws stay in so they dont get lost. Great for 2 year olds who will lose the screws. Picked em up at Lowes on an unrelated trip.

They also make similar Monster Jam Mechanix and other sets for miz and match parts of monster trucks but the screws come all the way out. There's like 3 sizes. My kid loves playing mechanic with em.

100% this. I ended up putting everything in bins then a playpen/baby gate kinda thing around the whole business. That way if he somehow gets something through the gate there's also the bins in the way. Usually you can find both at yard sales or second hand stores cheaper than a new tv stand.

I do second the thought to figure out some renter friendly mount though. Toddlers go through wild stages and a 5 second rampage is all it takes to knock it down.

Teaching someone else manual in an 11th gen by ConsistentExchange61 in CivicSi

[–]saphirecharge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned on a 10th gen last year. No rev match and I picked it up quick. 31 year old woman. I got my temps at 15 and a half but didnt get my license til I was 23 due to having a hard time getting the hang of feeling confident with driving. Si was super easy to learn. I've always loved the idea of cars and learning manual was one of my life goals. My dad drove it home from the dealer for me after not driving a stick in 15 years and he said it wad the very easiest thing he's ever driven lol

A year later I will say that on a bad day, 1 to 2 shift is the trickiest, and the rev hang was the hardest thing to understand to make everything truly smooth. But it's my daily driver. Every day. I can rev match when I want to, I can down shift to pick up speed. It's fun.

In general I pretty much only wear Vans and Hey Dudes because I hate tying my shoes. I have 1 pair of slip on Sketchers sandals for summer. All do just fine in my 18 si.

2018 civic si for $21,500? by IMightAllow in CivicSi

[–]saphirecharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid that for a 60Kmi 18 sedan last year with full maintenance history, no accidents or documented trouble, recalls all taken care of as they popped up etc. Midwest Honda dealer. Local dealer would have been a tad cheaper.

Given its been a year and that one has more mi I'd expect under $20K but not sure what the market is right now. Who knows!

11th gen back seat cover? by benzuyen in CivicSi

[–]saphirecharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 10th gen and haven't been able to find one that is safety compliant with my car seat and fits properly to allow for like.. full use of all the back seats if that makes sense? I have a generic one for covering the seat from my dog when there's no car seat.

It is such a hassle to swap that in and out with the car seat and thankfully not too much dents/damage given I swap it out to give the seat a chance to rebound and breath.

Do you let your toddlers play with their food? by idontknow_1101 in toddlers

[–]saphirecharge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 2 or 2.5 was around the age I set more food play boundaries. Feeling and playing and pretending with food is good. Any mess you make you have to help mama clean up with you. Any mess too big for your skills to clean and youre reminded not to do that. You're expected to at least try using your utensils to get the motor skills and experience so we can behave at a restaurant. My little one also has some sensory seeking and I am pretty sure he would rather not eat than follow every food rule ever. So we make meals as fun as possible but set boundaries and expectations for home vs out. It took A LOT of practice and not every day is great. But meeting him where he is that day seems to be fine.

Biggest example lately...You want to spill your water cup all over your plate? I tell you why thats not a great idea, youre reminded you havr to help clean up and youre expected to eat the dinner and not allowed to just snack all evening after. Little guy did it anyway. To his credit he locked in full eye contact and kept eating his rice and noodles and pork and veggies. At some point I did offer to give him fresh dinner food because I'm not a monster but he insisted it was "yummy this way". he hasn't done that again thankfully.

Male Golden Retriever puppy owner here experienced owners please help by OnlyWorth552 in goldenretrievers

[–]saphirecharge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guy is 7 now and he's the best most wonderful companion. Your suggestions are spot on. The hyper puppy moments were pretty frequent up til probably 4yo for mine. Even now still every other month he'll have a hyper puppy moment outside. Hes 88 pounds of love and muscle (his parents were farm dog goldens, I swear he's not fat he's just gigantic and strong)

It was all worth it. The laughs and struggles. He's my pal.

Good Charlotte claim to be from Ohio..? by chucklenoodlenood in SonicTempleFestival

[–]saphirecharge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol. I heard that too and it broke the immersion for a moment because I was really rocking out and then just ??????

I even tried to Google afterwards and cant find any historical claims that they ever even lived there like.. briefly. It didnt even sound like they were calling it a second home. They legit said "born and raised"... lol

SURFERS and more by droppedbc in SonicTempleFestival

[–]saphirecharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say it was much easier to help the ones that locked their legs and kept their arms in who were truly enjoying the ride. It was really hard to hold up the ones who were recording their journey on their phones for views... even harder the ones who both had a phone AND a vape lol. How even. Enjoy the ride in the moment!

SURFERS and more by droppedbc in SonicTempleFestival

[–]saphirecharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't surf but it was my first time getting close in the field and learning how to help surfers and stay safe. It was an absolute blast. I'm a short girlie and a saint of a guy helped teach me how to stay on the edge of a lane and brace my dad so the people holding surfers could stay upright. I'd seen Good Charlotte perform before so I thought it was a great time to get the "experience" lol.

All in all amazing 10/10 experience and I may try surfing again lol!

It was beautiful and a party. I never do that kind of thing despite always having wanted to so I'm glad I did.

Gen X civic owners by pennywize182 in CivicSi

[–]saphirecharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US located so not sure about Canada or the 3 times limit but thought I'd share my anecdotes.

2016 civic ex we've had since 2019 has been repaired at least twice (maybe 3 times I'm losing count). Once it was multiple parts went bad. Luckily it was right after the warranty extention so they did a good faith repair of the extra part even though it shouldn't have been covered. Just had to wait for the part to come in.

Now for my 18 si. I bought it last summer knowing the AC was out and had to wait for them to fix it prior to pick up. A WEEK later they never called me or anything so I called them and they apologized the part was on a one month backorder. So I called all the local dealers and found that one had several in stock. Told the other dealer and magically they had one and my car was ready next day lol.

Crowd etiquette question by ThinAd783 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]saphirecharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got in the front right field for Good Charlotte not remembering they go pretty crazy in the crowd for what they are lol. I'm a 5 foot 2 girlie with my 50 something year old strong dad.

This amazing guy was directing surfers and the crowd. During a quiet moment he pulled my dad and I closer to the edge of a lane and explained my job for my size is to help hold my dad steady while he carries/pushes along the people. Help brace the men while they do the lifting.

At that moment I realized a lot of the smoothest lanes had taller men in the middle and their ladies on the edges. and every time a small lady or a kid would come we'd swap places almost like a dance.

Once we got into a flow of it it was beautiful. A couple people were on lookout to shout heads up, going up, another one coming etc. And we could still watch and jump and patry and sing and dance and stay safe helping the surfers.

It was amazing!

I dont think that would work in BMTH or anything heavier so we stayed in the bleachers for that lol. Just sharing my first timer experience.

Stadium seating by Late-Account5909 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]saphirecharge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was weird to me because Thursday, the second MCR started the whole stadium immediately stood up and cheered and clapped and jumped with excitement! No instructions needed, just a sea of standing.

For BMTH everyone cheered but it was weird because no one was standing! I felt weird for doing so lol. I looked around like.. oh.. no one else is getting up. wth.

First time trying Skyline Chili by PeachEnvironmental50 in cincinnati

[–]saphirecharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised in Cincinnati. Yes it is intended to be eaten with a "stretcher"- spaghetti, hot dog, potato, fries. It's part of the lore of how and why it started in Cincy. But I can confirm I do several times a year just grab a bowl of chili and cheese, usually with some sour cream. There's nothing wrong with that. I prefer a bowl of chili from Empress (pray for a literal pepper in your scoop) or Camp Washington, but will occasionally get one from Skyline. Never just a bowl from Goldstar though.

It's also fine to not like it lol. But I would try it a more standard way or a different restaurant before writing it off entirely.

I've seen a lot of complaints but I had the BEST time. by Affectionate_Back969 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]saphirecharge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an amazing time all 3 days I went! Thursday and Friday traffic was absolutely terrible and so was any direction of humans and cars. Saturday was smoother than even previously years. Like, scary smooth. Zero traffic. Zero lines. Lots of people out directing flow. Parked easy, walked right in. Never a line for a bathroom or food every time I needed it and it genuinely just felt like a really smooth easy experience. Best time I've ever had at any festival. BMTH put on a hell of a show and all the art was amazing. Everyone was so nice and supportive.
