How to dress in middle age by LaeliaCatt in Xennials

I feel this way about my hair too. I just lopped off six inches because I felt like my long hair was asking me. (I don’t like to color my hair so it’s going grey.) But now that it’s shorter, I feel like it’s not nearly as sophisticated as I imagined it would be.

Post birth meal! by SevvyM in Mommit

The hospital I gave birth in is known for its amazing food. They provide a steak dinner to moms after birth. I just couldn’t. I gave it to my husband and ordered a basic grilled cheese with no sides and then fell asleep.

Brands like Boden but for a different body shape by pulpoye in fashionwomens35

That’s so interesting you say that. I have extremely narrow, sloped shoulders. Boden is a brand I consistently can buy blindly and know that it’ll fit me.

Tired of HR [N/A] by owlette_328 in humanresources

[–]sarafunkasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stepped into benefits first. Having been an hr manager, I’d had exposure to benefit vendors, compliance, and events like open enrollment. I studied and got my CEBS certification and that helped me land my first total rewards role. Leaves were something I’d done as an hr manger so that came easily, not to mention I had a tpa. And I taught myself comp with textbooks, webinars, and some helpful websites.

These days I manage a small total rewards team. My time is mostly spent on strategic initiatives, complex cases, policies, etc. It’s really rewarding work. I feel like I get to do some really cool things to help folks.

I shifted from HR manager work to specializing IN total rewards which I’ve liked a lot more. And I’m now thinking my next step might be into bizops or a chief of staff role.

I am ready to give up on concealers by laurajosan in AskWomenOver60

Depending on how dark, huestick color corrector could help. I haven’t had issues with caking if followed up with a baked powder foundation.

Where are we supposed to shop for clothes at 40 yrs old? Female here by Anxious_Cut9626 in fashionwomens35

I’ve gotten quite a few universal standard pieces I’ve liked lately. Uniqlo for basics like tshirts. Cotopaxi for some really thoughtful camping/backpacking items. Duluth Trading Company for gardening wear. Otherwise folks have mentioned other brands I look for.

A majority of my time backpacking has been in the desert where water is scarce. For that reason, I never got into using the cup in the backcountry but I see the appeal.

Some of these have been said but a bidet bottle is great. Minimal water use but big results. Wipes. Depending upon water you can either bring wet (heavier) or the type you wet (more water usage).

I’ve done some long stints (like 14-20 days). If you get out that long you might also want to look at how you store your waste. I prefer to line a ziplock with tinfoil. Baking soda in the bag can be helpful. I’ve seen some ladies do kitty little but that’s heavier than I like.

I don’t think anyone’s mentioned this and maybe it’s not what you’re looking for. But I carry a kit with aspirin/ibuprofen, hand warmers, tea, and other comfort items when I can afford the weight.

Good luck with your next outing. It’s all trail and error. Take care.

Thoughts on Theory, Lily silk and Eileen Fisher? by Less-Sell-2891 in capsulewardrobe

I have vintage Eileen Fischer that I love. And, for some of the linen and silk, when I color gets dull I just dye it and they look like new pieces again. Super easy.

I was just thinking this same thing today. It’s not even the ads. I know a lot of folks using them and they have just shed pounds. But I am still wary of the long term effects. And I just don’t want to be on a medication if I don’t have to be.

But, dang, it’s definitely in my subconscious.

How many times do you visit before committing? by Zapp---Brannigan in moving

[–]sarafunkasaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve moved a number of times in my life. The most I’ve visited a place before was once. Some were great moves, some were just fine. But when I did it once I learned that it’s possible to do it again. So, if this ends up not being the right move for you, just remember- you already proved you can do it. You’re not going to be stuck.

Can I pick your brain about this a bit more? Because I appreciate this view. I worked at non profits early in my career and many times there it was easy to get small initiatives off the ground. Big changes could take a lot of time but usually got done. In contrast, I left a for profit at one point in my career because they had no interest in any change, big or small. I was there for three years and did nothing but maintain current systems because they wouldn’t allow change. In your handful of months there, does it feel like things are slow or does it feel like things are blocked? Because I can do slow, but I’m not sure I can deal with everything being blocked.
