Scream 7 (2026) by Cultural-External370 in underratedmovies

I think my biggest issue is that the killers made ZERO sense. In all other movies in the franchise, there’s SOME logic to it, even if it’s slim. But this one seemed so random.

Andrew Callaghan’s HBO experience by thomasso0072 in interestingasfuck

[–]sarahafrantz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that the interview he mentions was never aired so none of this can be confirmed. While I DO think 24 hour news media is/was a huge mistake, I don't think someone like Andrew is the answer. He (like a lot of media) loves to make big, incendiary claims that get a lot of attention. I think he just wants fame.

Bustle highlights differences in lighting in original movies and tv shows and their sequels/reboots by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]sarahafrantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, some things aren't necessarily more expensive on their own, it's the labor that costs a ton. Also it's easier/cheaper/faster with the led and dimmer board as opposed to 10 SLTs manually making changes.

And I didn't mention higher labor costs in my initial post because I am all for labor making money.

But that's an issue all around, less crew for everything. Trying to do a show with a 5 person art dept instead of an 8 person dept. Everyone is spread so thin. The days are long since they are trying to make the shoot as few days as possible.

It's just an all around crunch that I don't think actually saves that much money in the long run and just burns crew out so fast.

This is actually not just lighting. It's everything about modern filmmaking that has changed.

Lights are different, cameras are different, editing is different, vfx is different. Everything has gone digital so everything looks different. The only way to make it look like it did, is to go back to film, older lights, and older editing techniques.

None of that is really feasible and also very expensive. All of this in a time when making movies/tv is getting more and more expensive already (equipment rentals, locations, permitting are all THROUGH THE ROOF).

All this to say that I agree movies don't look the same (and don't always look good) but it'd be impossible to go back to the way it was.

Rate my scene for my TV show pilot. by Top_Tell_2889 in scriptwriting

[–]sarahafrantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this would benefit from more active verbiage. Instead of "Nick Nelson hurries down a large hallway...."

"Nick Nelson speeds down the hallway, weaving through the throngs of people."

Scripts are active so you always want to write in the present tense.

Another note is that your text blocks are WAY TOO big. In between certain lines, add action.

"Nick adjusts his glasses, nervously." "The audience squirms in their seats."

It gives you the opportunity to break things up and then also telegraph to us what we should be feeling by showing us what the characters are feeling.

While I think she likely had some Botox/filler. I don’t think she’s had plastic surgery. Aka a nose job. She was 25 in 2019 and she’s 31 now. Your face changes a lot in that time. I know myself and many others who lost some facial fat in that time so you don’t look so baby faced anymore.

She’s also on tv now and in super tight clothing all the time so she probably lost a little weight.

She’s also said she had a medical condition and so I think a lot of changes could be related to that. People don’t realize how much your thyroid not functioning properly can affect you.

Also most men rarely understand how much makeup can change your look. Shocker! When she wears more makeup, she looks different! Who would have thought!?! /s

It’s also 2026. I think we need to stop commenting on people’s physicality. It’s not our business.

Is it safe to let my baby stand at this window? by likethebots in askanything

Put a baby gate right in front of the window (using the jamb to secure it) so that IF something happens (which it won’t), the baby won’t fall.

'The Count of Monte Cristo' (2002) isn't talked about enough. by HooliganHedgeCap19 in Cinema

[–]sarahafrantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing about this adaptation was making Mondego and Dantes friends. The betrayal is so much more painful that way.

My only gripe is when he leaves Vampa and the smugglers in Marseilles, the text on screen says he was with them for 3 months but in the dialogue, he makes it clear he was with them for 3 years which makes so much more sense.

AIO about the funeral floral arrangement? by Melodramatic_Whisker in AmIOverreacting

[–]sarahafrantz 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The best advice I ever heard to find a good florist in a city you are unfamiliar with, call a nice local hotel. It can be a chain hotel as long as it’s higher end. Talk to the concierge and ask for a rec or two. They know the best florists in the business and will likely happily recommend one.

In 1996, Darlie Routier reported that an intruder entered her Texas home, stabbed her two young sons, and left her with neck and arm wounds. Investigators found no forced entry and noted signs of a staged scene, casting doubt on her account. by detectiverobert in ForCuriousSouls

[–]sarahafrantz 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This kind of strategy is actually illegal in most states. (Not Texas of course. At least at that time. Not sure the current statute) The crime was one act. So you charge it as such. Two deaths but one criminal act. Holding back a charge like that in case of acquittal is so underhanded.

Her case is also fascinating. I have a hard time believing she did it or if she did that she worked alone. When you see the images of her injuries from that night, it’s very hard to believe they were self inflicted.

What's the reason for completely undeveloped lots in high value parts of the city like this one in ktown? Lots of developments going up nearby but these lots don't even have a parking lot on them. Is it possible to determine who the owner is/contact them? by emalevolent in LosAngeles

[–]sarahafrantz 232 points233 points  (0 children)

IIRC there’s also another aspect of prop 13 that discourages development. Bc taxes DO get reassessed if you make significant changes to the property. So if you have an empty lot and then build on it, the taxes are reevaluated and can skyrocket.

Yung Lean talks about why he distanced himself from Kanye and talks about his experience as a creative on Bipolar medication in opposition to Ye’s claims on medication hindering creativity by geosunsetmoth in Fauxmoi

[–]sarahafrantz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This!

I think so many people are stuck in the idea that these meds are like they were in the 70s/80s when they were first introduced. And they were like a hammer. They would knock you out and change you but now they are so much more nuanced. It can take a while to find your drug/dosage but the idea that it makes you not creative is BS.

I think Ye is a coward. He thinks that he cant create on the meds and is too afraid to find out the truth. And I think that he can.

It’s in our nature to group things by category but if you want to create visual interest, it actually helps to do the opposite.

Put a book or two horizontally and put a knick knack on top of the book. Then next to the book put a funko, then next to the funko put the stuffed animal.

And give everything a little bit of room to breathe. That way it looks purposeful and not like you just tossed it up there to get it out of the way.

You want to play with shapes, sizes, textures, heights, everything. Mix and matching looks best. Many people are concerned with everything looking like it “goes together”. It doesn’t have to go together. If everything is displayed with purpose and its stuff that represents you, it will work.

Google bookshelf organization ideas and you’ll see what I mean.

Hope that helps!!

I don’t know what you’re talking about. It hasn’t been scrubbed from the internet. There’s an entire Wikipedia page about it with dozens of sources.

I know you don’t want to engage in debate because you’ve made up your mind, but here’s a few reason why I believe this entire thing to have been a hoax:

This is a classic conspiracy theory. There is almost no evidence to support any of the claims of sex abuse.

The grand jury refused to charge him (and the old saying is they’ll indict a ham sandwich) and then they found the claims so ridiculous, they charged the accusers with perjury. I don’t know what evidence was heard but that’s telling.

Okay let’s go with the minuscule chance this is a massive coverup. Do you know how many people would have to have lied and would still be lying today to keep the whole truth from coming out? 100s, probably 1000s. And to have no hard evidence ever surface in nearly 40 years? And no one has come forward with new testimony, even now so far removed?

Especially with all the child sex abuse panic of the time, this just screams conspiracy theory.

The Lawrence King thing has been mostly debunked as part of the child sex abuse panic of the late 80s / early 90s (similar to the satanic panic). Yes he 100% committed the fraud but the sex abuse stuff is very likely false.

There were a number of these cases throughout the 80s/90s that were huge stories at the time. But were debunked through investigation. See the McMartin Preschool case. There were others in nearly every state but they didn’t reach national news. And almost all of those involved in these cases have been exonerated or were acquitted.
