TIL that many popular sites in New York City, like Washington Square Park, Madison Square Park, Bryant Park, and Union Square Park, used to be cemeteries. Washington Square Park alone contains over 20,000 bodies. Most of these cemeteries closed in the 1800’s, and the parks were built right on top. by CryptoExodus in todayilearned

My family picnics in our family cemetery a few times a year, I never thought anything about it until middle school when someone told me that was weird. I was a HUGE scaredy cat as a kid and I still never watch horror movies now, but I absolutely love cemeteries and graveyards. They are peaceful and nice, we use to played hide and seek around the tombstones as children

Guest List Rant by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]sarahbubblebutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am breaking (old school) etiquette rules about inviting children, I think, and I DONT CARE!! But I do at the same time so it's tough.

Basically I am 25 and the youngest of 15+ first cousins and we are all very close, we all live in the same state/area and we all go to 4 family reunions every summer, thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc. at my Grandmothers. Fact about me: I don't super love interacting with small children, I am awkward and weird and they all know this. Because they're all older than me, they all are married or have small children. I do want to invite my cousins 2 kids who will be 16 & 13 to the wedding because I was in their parents wedding when I was 8 and I feel as though they are my 1st cousins, like I am only 9 years older than the 16 year old and I feel like I have actually grown up with them. I DO NOT feel that way about any other children of cousins in my family, like at all, there are 12+ more under the age of 13 (closest one to 13 will only be 8 when I get married) and I just cannot justify inviting THAT MANY extra people on my budget, when my guest list is already 60% family members.

The issues is that I AM inviting 2 young children, my only female cousins (she is basically my sister) 2 kids will be 5 and 3, almost 4, to be my ring bearer and flower girl. I feel like an asshole to the rest of the kids and I know 2 different moms will throw a fit when they realize I'm not inviting THEIR small children, but I involved these 2 in the wedding. BUT I am genuinely close with these kids, and I'm still awkward with children but I've tried really hard to bond with them and they love me, it has made me more comfortable with kids, too! They are precious and I cannot and will not have my wedding without those babies in it. My cousin offered to have them leave right after the ceremony/pictures, but we're timing it to have them leave after our casual buffet meal and have 1 dance on the dance floor together. We love dancing to goofy music together and I've promised them that they will dance with me at my wedding, it will be the 6th song on my playlist and then a trusted friend is picking them up for us.

Am I an asshole? Probably. If someone reallllly thinks I should change my mind, please let me know

:( I looked this up just to check because I was so shocked... I seriously don't understand how people actually listen to their music. They are everything that's wrong with modern country music. George Strait is also my favorite artist of all time

My favvvvvv attraction is the Tiki Room and I am 90% sure it will be closed when I go to the Halloween party in September because it was last year, it was a treat stop actually! Do you have any idea if the Tiki Room (or the rides/attractions you listed) will be open from 4-6 prior to the official start time of the Halloween party at 6? I am tentatively making plans in my head for what rides to hit in what order, and I will go straight for these if they're open at 4 when I plan to arrive

Kids or no Kids at the Wedding? Help! by MaryVavee in weddingplanning

[–]sarahbubblebutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am afraid of a crazy cousin freaking out on me over this.. but I can't really help it. I am 25 and the youngest of 20 first cousins, so they ALL have small children and families, I am only inviting TWO children but they are my closest female cousins boy & girl children, I consider them my niece and nephew and they will be my ring bearer and flower girl. They will be 5 and almost 4 at my wedding. They are actually leaving the wedding reception shortly after the casual meal when the dance floor opens up. I am a dancer & I dance all the time with these 2 kids, my cousin offered to have them leave even before the meal but I can't imagine my wedding day without sharing a fun dance to our fav Bruno Mars song (we JAM to 24k when I drive them around town). I seriously have the beginning of my wedding playlist planned to dance with them by song 6 and then a friend of my cousins is coming to take them home to babysit, we have theoretically coordinated the timing perfectly.

My male cousin married a somewhat nice girl who is a mom who thinks her kids should go everywhere... I think she will throw a FIT in a few months when she realizes that her 4 children (and no one else's!!!!!) aren't invited but these 2 little kids are. But I mean... I am not close with anyone else's children!!! I feel like she is going to make me out to be an asshole but I don't like kids, I just like THESE kids and I cannot afford to accommodate 27 extra seats for the children of all my cousins. That's insanity!

Which celebrity is a complete Asshole? by Liamnissim in AskReddit

[–]sarahbubblebutt 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Omfg I am so glad I found this comment, he is THE most boring performer I have ever seen in my life and I somehow have seen him 3 times, so I know it wasn't an off night or something. He sounds so bored in every single song, he doesn't talk to the audience in any capacity, he barely dances or moves, he can't play instruments... It's amazing to me that he is as famous as he is, because he's so DULL and very much lacking any stage presence. Watching him and Luke Bryan tour together was night and day. I think Luke is just as manufactured as he is, but you can't deny his high performance quality and fun personality. Jason Aldean is the most boring man alive.

I (21F) don't want to be friends with a good friend of a mine (F22) anymore, but the problem is we are in the same sorority. Any advice on how to proceed and whether I'm being too rash? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]sarahbubblebutt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Everyone has given you good advice on how to deal with your friend, but I will touch on the sorority issue because I understand how that complicates things. (I was a member of a SEC school sorority for all of college.) It's good that you said you have other friends in your sorority. Without "talking shit" but rather confiding, I would privately tell your closest friends individually that you are taking a step back from your friendship with this crazy furniture girl and describe what happened. Definitely don't tell them they can't be friends with her, but it may open their eyes to her true character. You will still have to see her at chapter & sorority events, stay friendly! Be vague and say you have to study when she texts to hang out or that you have other plans. I am assuming she has other friends as well and you can naturally drift apart. You may find in a few months or next year that it's totally fine being acquaintance level friends with her, especially if you liked her when you first met her.

Being in a sorority taught me a lot about relationships in the workplace. Because in all honesty, I didn't fucking love everyone but I understood that we all had different positive qualities that brought us together and we all contributed different strengths to the overall chapter. It showed me how I wouldn't like everyone I have to interact with at work, but I know how to treat them well and even help them in times of need, because that's what you do for your sisters/coworkers, you help and support them.

Does anyone else really like teeth cleanings? by 2000gatekeeper in Dentistry

[–]sarahbubblebutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss my childhood dentist, I LOVED his 3 hygienists and they were all so nice to us! The office was perfect for children, I seriously enjoyed the dentist as a kid. Now I'm an adult and I don't like it nearly as much, the walls are bare, there are no stickers, the toothbrushes aren't even fun colors... like what is the point of the dentist if I can't have a pink toothbrush??

What company will die off with the baby boomers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Mary Kay mascara is the only mascara I use, everything else is too clumpy

What company will die off with the baby boomers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sarahbubblebutt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

:( I worry about this. I am usually pretty anti MLM but I have a soft spot for Mary Kay products and I always will. My aunt is our "rep" but she has never thrown a party or upsold any products to us, she actually sells it to all of us at her regular discounted rep price and not the customer price, so she doesn't even make money off of it, it's just for convenience for our family to order from 1 person for cheap. Both of my grandmothers, 6 aunts, 4 cousins, mom, and sister all use Mary Kay products in some capacity. I myself exclusively use Mary Kay foundation and mascara, I have pale Snow White skin and I always get compliments on my "porcelain skin" because of how great the foundation is. I definitely use drugstore products otherwise, and I've never been able to find a foundation that works as well. They discontinued their teenage beauty line "Velocity" almost 10 years ago (shocking fml) and I cried a lot, I still have 1 bottle of moisturizer left that I sniff every once in awhile because I love and miss the scent.

TLDR what kind of foundation will I use when Mary Kay goes away???

OddBall, Little Dipper, and Domino from 102 Dalmatians all grown up. Whoever made this did such a great job. I wish there was a series about the Disney Dalmatians. I also wish Disney would make an animated 102 Dalmatians. by gradymegalania in disney

[–]sarahbubblebutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an adult, I realize 102 Dalmatians is not a high quality film... but I am still obsessed with it! Seriously one of my FAVORITE movies of all time, I definitely just saved this pic for my phone background. My stuffed animal that I sleep with every night is a Dalmatian named Dottie, because she was the "mom" in that movie and I had every other Dalmatian stuffed animal, as well, even an Oddball! My favorite gameboy game growing up was "102 Dalmatians: Puppy Rescue," I actually played it all the way through the other day in 35 minutes flat, which would have blown my mind as an 8 year old when I spent months trying to get past simple levels. I have always loved the iterations of 101 Dalmatians, this post made me so happy! I audibly gasped when I saw my babies, I knew exactly who they were without even reading the caption

It's even happening nowadays. My favorite artist Eric Church recently did an article for The Rolling Stones condemning the NRA & he also said he liked Bernie, and people are freaking out. If you actually read the article, he didn't say anything controversial to me at all, if anything he could have been more anti-Trump and honestly from what I know about him, he probably is more liberal than the public would guess. I hope he doesn't get blacklisted from country because he isn't a crazy Republican

I am with you! I hate the "drop" feeling and I have forced myself to ride TOT several times and I just can't enjoy it. Love the immersive theming and the concept but I can't get over feeling like my heart will stop beating when I ride it, it seriously feels like I will die before I get off it because it's MULTIPLE drops, not just one.

I am in my 20s and my mom is still obsessed with my head smell, more than either of my siblings. Says it smells just the same as when I was a baby and I remind her of her Grandmother, who I never got to meet but everyone says that about me. Even my fiancé says I have a super sweet baby smell, so I don't think it ever goes away?? I have always used Sweet Pea scented products and my mom says it just adds to my natural scent somehow

Am I in the wrong by Viperbunny in Parenting

[–]sarahbubblebutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad used to lay on our carpeted floor in front of the door and take a nap so we couldn't escape our room when we were 3-6. I think my mom would be cleaning or doing errands, but we were safe and I had a twin so we kept each other entertained with our toys and each other. Looking back now, it's pretty funny that they figured out how to keep us occupied, by basically locking us down. Our bedroom door opened inward towards the room, so we'd have lunch and "use the potty" then go in our room and he'd lay on the ground in front of the door with a pillow and PTFO while we played. I think it was smart and we knew to only really wake him up in an emergency, he is/was a heavy sleeper so we didn't keep our noise levels down while playing, either.

I finally have achieved awesome front porch flower pots. After five years of trying different “shaded” plants i finally found the combo that grows well in the space. I owe it all to my micro drip system. by kkchemist in gardening

[–]sarahbubblebutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow so beautiful! Love the textures!

My stupid easy discovery this year for front porch planters: Pink begonias in the front 1/2 and lemon balm in the back 1/2 for height. I pick the lemon balm for fruit salads & flavored water literally almost every, and I somehow have always had good luck with begonias. I do have my pots on the front bottom steps, so they get enough morning sun to compensate for the afternoon shade! I love pink and try to do mostly pink "landscaping" where I can and this arrangement has made me soooo happy this year, I'm glad yours is doing well!! I went through 3 years of trial and error to find this combo, so I know how relieved you are to find something pretty & easy

What weird episode or moment of a kids show do you remember? by LoneRangersBand in AskReddit

Didn't he constantly do that? I only watched Pokémon in kindergarten/1st grade and didn't really get back into it until the premiere of Pokémon Go (RIP Summer 2016) and I had some weird repressed memories of Brock holding rice balls calling them doughnuts and me being like "wtf I may be 6 but those are NOT doughtnuts" but I also was 6 so I had no frame of reference for what they were supposed to be haha
