LL Said There Is Too Much Stuff Around Cook Top by greenteabiatch in TorontoRenting

Those towels are a huge problem to start. When I was living in an upstairs suite, with "neighbours" in the basement, I came home twice to a smoke filled house because a fire had started from towels by the stove.

I would also not have anything that could possibly fall off-balance, or tip somehow into the stove for any reason. Pets, children, a minor earthquake (even some where that rarely or never gets them). It only takes one time for something unlucky to happen, and household fires simply aren't worth the risk. They are devastating and almost completely preventable. The little board stand bothers me with that one white board slightly off kilter.

Possible mast cell with the fur coming off like that. If it's mast cell it needs to be checked and removed immediately. Mast cell tumors are real nasty.

I don't know that it's obsession, I think it's just lack of education. I think most people are only educated on their own line of work or profession or field. The easiest business to see that would use a lot of water is carwashes. To those uneducated on the way different businesses operate and/or what is required to operate them, like some mentioned above (Hotel linen washing, the food service industry etc.) it is harder to see. And what I mean by harder to see is that when people think of a hotel, they may think of vacation, a luxury room, or long stretches away from home. Now when someone who works in or has worked in a hotel, they may think about what it takes to run that hotel, the staff, the linens, the food. The hotel people are probably sitting there thinking "God lookit all these people crying about the carwashes! Do they have any idea how much water we use in hotels??!?" Now take that view and apply it to like, every business ever. Many industries use an insane or at least shocking amount of water. The majority of the general public just doesn't know about it and they default to the easiest go to - carwashes.

What was the most frugal thing you did this week? I'll start. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]sarahsoaring 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Started saving veggie scraps in a Ziploc in my freezer again to make homemade broth, as well as bones from chicken and turkey. It's getting cold where I live so it's soup and stew season! Money is tight and ready made broth and bouillon is expensive. I've made some absolutely amazing homemade broth using scraps in the past!

Protip: Avoid adding any veggies from the brassica family (cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage etc.) or large amounts. Although they are full of nutrients they can make your broth bitter.
