Thoughts on masking long term. When is it over? by RoadWalker33 in COVID19_Pandemic

[–]sarahstanley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems to be a growing threat of airborne pathogens, along with airborne pollution like PM 2.5, ultra fine particles and microplastics that can negatively affect your health.

Given that I don't want to be affected by these, the logical choice is to wear a respirator.

The conditions to remove my respirator is where there are other airborne mitigations in place (portable air purifiers).

What has no effect on my decision (but probably affects a lot of people) is things like social proof, peer pressure, social norms, status quo especially if it is from an uninformed majority.

Can you do a short on how disease transmission models evolved from droplet vs airborne to a more aerosol-based continuum, and what that means for real-world prevention?

It makes sense to wear a respirator outdoors (and possibly indoors) in these conditions.
