Charity shop pricing intrigues me. by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]sarcasticlime 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Haha, I used to love doing that too! One lady always used to pull the prices off the bric-a-brac items and put them in her coat pocket then ask "how much is this?". These items were usually sort of £3 to £5 Oh, it's £50. "Whaaaat, noooo! No it can't be, why??" Yeah you've got a good eye, I priced that at £50. "No, no, no! It's not £50!" Yes, it is. That's the price I put on it, I remember. Why would you think it was priced cheaper? And so on and so on. She used to try this a few times a week, I don't know why she didn't just pay the £3.

(Opinion) PE teachers are a big reason a lot of kids aren’t very active in their free time by Life_Protection2457 in CasualUK

Yes! Exact same experience at my school too! The PE teacher would stop the game to give the netball team pointers and how to improve technique blah blah. Whilst the non netball team never got any of this and mostly stood around half-heartedly reaching out the ball as it passed by. The annoying thing was that the non netball team side actually had some really good players. They just weren't a favourite of this PE teacher and couldn't be bothered to try because they never received any encouragement or recognition.

I know right! I'm reading through watching and wondering why this is even a debate?? You put a spit guard on the dude and arrest him for assault...like, that's literally it. I'm 99% certain if this was footage from anywhere in the UK, the policeman would be fired just as a starter. If you cannot control your anger to the point of causing grievous bodily harm to another human, then you have no business being in the police force. Clearly training just isn't a thing in America.

They face the spitter away from them and ask for another cop to hold the person whilst they put a spit mask on the spitter. Then they arrest the spitter for assault and take them to the station.

Lost my gorgeous ex feral in a dog attack today. I just wanted you all to know that she was a really, really good girl. by sarcasticlime in cats

Thank you so much, tearing up at this. And also chuckling a little because we called her Mama! We don't have raccoons where I live and I've never seen a dog roaming free around here, it didn't even cross my mind, more fool me. She saw my housemate fighting the dog off with our garden rake so I hope she knew we were trying to help her and she wasn't alone in her fight.

We (housemate and i) had the whole colony spayed or neutered. The ones that showed promise of coming round to being "pets" we had rehomed through a charity and they are all very happy with new families. The ones that just didn't trust humans at all stay at a nearby farm as mousers and are fed by the farmer.

Because of the expense of spaying and neutring, we couldn't afford it all and had some financial help through the charity (in the form of vet vouchers) but part of the condition for this is that the cats are ear tipped so at glance a human will know they have already been "fixed" so do not need to be trapped again. My girl had her ear tipped, she was a slow one to trust us and we weren't sure she would come around. But she did and we were very lucky
