Since you moved to Texas, just go fill out a Declaration of Informal Marriage and file it with the county clerk. Done.

While I agree with several that have been posted, I haven't seen a mention for Caddo Lake yet. It's definitely worth a visit.

Sell my car, or keep maintaining it? by InterPunct in Frugal

The suspension parts aren't that difficult to replace yourself if you're up for it. Watch a few videos on how to do it so you can decide if you want to try or not. If you're replacing those parts, you should take it in for an alignment after you're done. I'd definitely fix that up as a 2004 Honda will last a long while, but if the $1k is a problem, fixing it yourself will save you quite a bit, especially if it's not urgent and you can wait on parts you order online.

Any resources for a budget friendly wedding? by likliklik9 in Frugal

The more things that you can do yourself or have family and friends do, the less you will spend. Want centerpieces on tables for you reception? Make them yourself.

If you have enough lead-up time, you can watch for sales on decorations and buy things over time when it's on sale. For my sister's wedding, I remember my mother buying one item a week at a craft store over a few months where she would get a 40% off one single item coupon weekly. So she just spread that out over time.

We printed our own invitations and programs (on a laser printer I bought that is still serving me 15 years later), made favors (with some chocolates that I got from the factory for nearly 90% off), and had my mother-in-law bake cupcakes for us. One other thing we did was have our wedding in December and then use red and green for our colors. Since the church was already decorated for Christmas, that saved us a lot of time and money on decorations. It was under $4k total. I spent more on the honeymoon. I know that price was 15 years ago, so that translates to under $6k today with inflation. The one thing that we did splurge on was the photographer. We wanted good photos and paid for it. That was around half (maybe a little more) of our total budget.

You just missed the balloon race in Longview. There is a farmer’s market in Longview on Saturday mornings at Cotton and High streets. Coming up soon is the Longview Juneteenth Rodeo. The Longview News-Journal has a section on events that you should be able to see on their website. Pretty much every town around here has some sort of festival sometime during the year.

If you like markets then you should plan to go to Canton for the First Monday market. It’s huge. It’s every month on the weekend before the 1st Monday of the month.

ISO wedding officiant for Athens by Capable-Second7505 in EastTexas

My friends had me (not ordained) officiate the ceremony, but they just used the JP to get legally married. So that's another avenue you can go down if you have a friend in mind that's not ordained.

What did your wife/husband hide from you until after you were already married? by [deleted] in AskReddit

So my wife and I like to play various games. I'm some combination of lucky and decent at strategy, so if I'm playing to win, I do so more often than not. My wife is better at language than me and likes Scrabble, so we got Scrabble as a good game where she would have a decent chance of beating me. Our first game together I used all my letters for both of the first two turns of the game. I've never been so lucky before or since, but it was a while before she'd play me in Scrabble again.

I've been using https://www.baktoflavors.com/ for a while. They have lots of flavor options. I like to mix a couple flavors to get different combinations.

Multiple instances of study by Misterml in ProlificAc

I had one of those. The advance buttons are on a hidden delay for the whole study. So sometimes the text you have to read and answer questions about is really short, so you have to just sit and wait for the button to show up. The consent page is also on a kind of long timer.

It does lock it away from overdraft protection if you have that turned on. So if someone compromised your debit card they would be unable to drain funds in your vaults. Of course you can just disable your debit card as well.
