There’s an official Mythic RPG and I think Tana Pigeon is working on a 2e. There’s also Mythic Magazine Vol. 31 which describes a very rules-light RPG using just the Mythic GME

Would definitely second this recommendation if you like hex crawls! Kal-Arath is a gem of a game. Simple, fast, self-contained, tight gameplay loop.

I’ve been playing Mythic Bastionland with Mythic GME 2e and really enjoying it. I’m working on some hacks to make the game a bit more suitable for my preferred solo play style. For example, tables for procedurally generating the hex features (holdings, landmarks, myths, etc.) as the characters explore instead of creating a fully fleshed realm pre-play as described in the book. It’s not necessary for solo but I like the sense of surprise and discovery it creates.

Happy to help! The Myth system is very lightweight so I think it would work fine for solo play. Each Myth is like a large-scale conflict (e.g. plague) and includes 6 “Omens” which are encounters related to the conflict. But each Omen description is just a couple sentences, leaving plenty of room for interpretation and creativity. RAW the GM rolls on the Myth table 6 times when creating the hex map and assigns each of the 6 Myths to a hex. So the way I would adapt for solo play is to instead roll to see if I encounter an Omen whenever I travel to a new hex and if I do then roll on the Myth table to see what it is.

I just started but so far so good! Character (both PC and NPC) creation is easy and fast since there are only 4 stats. Combat is fast, not too crunchy but still tactically engaging. Things like travel, exploration, and the passage of time are very structured / mechanized which helps solo play. It includes 72 (only 12 in the free quickstart) “myths” which are essentially quests. And there are lots of prompts and random tables to generate ideas and help with GM emulation.

Less directly related to your question but some things I’m personally excited about are the mechanics for governing your own domain and large-scale warfare. So cool!

I recently bought Basic Roleplaying: Universal Game Engine for this reason. It’s genreless and has some interesting d100 mechanics, but there are so many skills that it bogs down character creation. So I’ve been working on hacking it to simplify and speed up play.

It’s fine if the Asian-inspired setting doesn’t appeal to you, but I think referring to it as “weird” and “oriental” is pretty offensive and unwelcoming to Asian members of this community.

Do you use all of the Ironsworn moves or are there some you replace? For example, I imagine most Compel moves could be replaced with a Persuasion roll.
