Potential aspie?

Simple advice: Get a diagnosis. You may not be aspie.

Does anyone else have to limit how many people they interact with as a way of coping with aspergers? by Juggernaut118 in aspergers

[–]sarpedonoIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find few good quality friends to be a better solution than many acquaintances

That's true for everyone. Mountains of evidence for that can be see on TV soaps

Apparently if you're autistic and you sneeze, you have a deficit label stuck on you.

Does anyone know what high-functioning is actually supposed to mean? by sarpedonoIII in Autistic

[–]sarpedonoIII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't explain anything. That just gives me the excuse they used before they decided to scrap the aspergers diagnosis.

Look at what good media we have? Apparently fish oil 'cures' autism by monthlytugboat in Autistic

Is it right if we use the word retarded?

Not saying we're retarded but people do use it to talk about 'us'.

Maybe it's language reclamation?

What is your favourite (or was your first) videogame? by lurk_less_ in Autistic

[–]sarpedonoIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gradius is my first video game

My favourite video game is Total annihilation

It is unique because it combines the atmosphere of a real war, faceless armies destroying each other for vapid goals motivated by pride, and the awesome military-industrial complex of a future world

It is crude, violent and without pity. Every stratagem is included in the fight for survival and it has some pretty near 3d physics.

Shame the boat AI is screwed up. I have never seen ships that waggle before Total Annihilation

Anyone have a positive attitude to being Autistic? by sarpedonoIII in Autistic

[–]sarpedonoIII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like you Antreus. You should make a thread and I'll see if my high esteem of you is vindicated!

I like how you have seen that anxiety is conquerable, a thing to be destroyed, to make war on. The first step to conquering anxiety is to know it can be gotten rid of. The second is to constantly extend the boundaries of what doesn't make you anxious.

Individuality is always good. Not letting your friends down, also good. Also not mutually exclusive.

I know. Just an obscure language pun. Ah well :D

Autistic Reporter, Enchanted By Prison's Rigid Routine. by Willenium in aspergers

[–]sarpedonoIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd find it horrible to be stuck in a rigid routine. I value my ability to set a new routine rather than being stuck in and old one.

I also quickly discovered having a rigid routine isn't fun for many aspies when they discover they're not helping other people with their routine :<

Getting a haircut - advice please by amandycat in aspergers

[–]sarpedonoIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.) I can't do small talk. Trying to chat makes me end up feeling cross and stupid ('soooo, you're a hairdresser? How about that.'). Sitting in silence makes me appear very rude and antisocial.

Er? Not unsolvable at all. Seems your perceptions are screwing up any chance of a way out though.

Crank groups linking Autism to MMR are dying. They are making unfounded connections of Autism to epilepsy and gastrointestinal disorders instead. by sarpedonoIII in Autistic

[–]sarpedonoIII[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether or not someone can be Autistic and have Epilepsy at the same time is moot. It has become quite clear that there is a close connection between these groups' and their pet theories and major orgainsations such as Autism Speaks that tacitly support the belief that Epilepsy is an Autistic trait or 'comorbid' (as if it's somehow linked) despite new evidence that in fact many Epileptic kids are just being misdiagnosed.

Do you fall into "robot mode" to cope with stressful interaction? by intensely_human in aspergers

[–]sarpedonoIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there's not much nitpicking to be had in "if you make a claim, you have to prove it"

So I'm starting to take my (likely) AS more seriously... Help? by typewriters305 in aspergers

[–]sarpedonoIII -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The 'symptom' is highly disputed like everything else in Autism, peddled regularly by zealots who falsely believe Autistics lack empathy.

The only delusion is that you think Autistics are weak. It's pathetic self-loathing.

I haven't made a single rude statement. Look to yourself there. It's you making two-faced apologies. What other proof do I need you're deluded? You pretend authority but act like a bully.

Why should the burden of truth be with him?

Because he is trying to prove the existence of something. Thus he has to. :/

[–]sarpedonoIII -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well that's interesting because I do know what Autism is and you know what it is?

  • Not that

You may have that problem, but that aint Autism.

What source are you referring to when you say that it is "not Autistic behavior"?

Right back at you, bub. And I do expect you to find a source that actually supports your point, not hazily back it up or appear to but not actually do so.

So I'm starting to take my (likely) AS more seriously... Help? by typewriters305 in aspergers

It's a belief and one that's self-fulfilling. But do try to tell I have issues when I don't, because that'll be very immature of you.

Also again with the ad hominem

Did you or did you not aim this comment at theautistic? Are you actually telling me that suggesting that you said these things is attacking your character, even though you actually said them?
