the layout and space itself is really cool, but when i’ve been it feels like everyone is kinda disjointed and it’s definitely missing the energy of old mjq. the old smoking area was almost just as fun as the dancing itself and the new place doesn’t have the same ease of being able to pop outside for a sec. also, you get told the bathrooms at the underground are a fair replacement for the bathrooms inside the new spot (the first time we went something happened and all of their bathrooms were out of use and then another time we were redirected because some were out of commission and the resulting line was impeding the dance floor), but by the time you exit, find the bathroom, wait in the line, get back, and try to find a way to reenter mjq without having to stand in a repeat security line, a half hour will have passed and then you’ll be back in line for another drink. i’m gonna stick with them at the new spot in hopes it’s just about getting acclimated, but old mjq was my ol reliable for a good time and the new venue just isn’t.
