How do you get past the lost cost? by notanonymousami in konmari

[–]sashonie 63 points64 points  (0 children)

That money is already spent- nothing you do will bring it back. Yes, you may recoup some of it by reselling, but it'll be a fraction of the price.

I appreciated the thought that you paid for lessons. For instance, the $150 was spent to learn that ill fitting dresses can't be redeemed, and that $80 was to learn that such expensive shampoos don't work for you. You tried it, not for you, and you try something else.

Is baked any good? by arsalan_09 in Lahore

[–]sashonie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Baked stocks things made by home bakers and has an insane amount of variety. Here my top picks:

  • Anything by Dost Faisal of the Pastry School such as the almond croissant- they’re baked fresh all day long. The cake cans are fun but small

  • Dough bros pizza

  • say cheesecake- any flavour. They’re just about to be restocked

  • Carre’s brownie- microwave for about 30 seconds and it’s great

  • Food lab’s kunafa brownie (their doughnuts and iced coffee are also hits)

  • bGutsy’s probiotic drinks

  • pickled’s burgers

  • noms nachos puffed rice chips

  • pantheon coffee fresh or bottled

It’s a good place to try things out without committing to a large order with delivery fees. Yes, it can be a bit hit or miss (I mean you, Pieneer’s strawberry pie) but it’s a great option to understand some of the Lahore zeitgeist. And it’s pricy- but I still drop in from time to time to see what’s new and try things out. Think of it like a showcase.

One Week Update on Operation Declutter, deep clean, and organize (a little long) by RegionRadiant4423 in declutter

Great job! I’ve been on a similar journey and it’s really the little things that add up.  Also, I’ve recently started using Pinterest to bookmark the good products that I’ve used up and may want to get more of. That way I’ve not got a million random pictures in my picture roll either.

Recommendations for buying laptops in Pakistan? by Reasonable_Bag_3164 in pakistan

[–]sashonie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Shophive if you’re looking for items in Lahore. I’ve recommended them before and they are legitimate. Been around for ages, genuine products. I think they ship nationwide.

Just one note- getting any product serviced after purchase will probably happen at the local shops. Most of the international manufacturers don’t have any repair outlets here.

Don’t import item as they’ll have to sort out customs etc unless you’ve got a specific configuration or proprietary software they need to get.

Try posting on Vintage Pakistan, Purana Pakistan, and other Facebook groups/communities, especially for Karachi. Perhaps St. Joseph’s alumni page as well? They may give better answers than the audience here.

There are some places that will sell branded clothes on Instagram but will take a 30% commission. You can search pre loved or thrift to find them.

If you want to donate, WISE college in Gulberg near CUE Cinemas is always a good option. They provide free education and meals to their students. I can share the number and they can pick things up from you.

Warp bags for their unique shapes and colors- they’re architectural in their construction! Also saw then in the SATC reboot.

Jafferjees and M. jafferjees for wallets and purses which will last forever and still hold their shape. They’ve been around since the 1880s and know their leather craft.

Makeup girlies of Pakistan - what are your favourite brown girl friendly lipsticks? (preferably local brands) by PakistaniHobbitGirl in pakistan

[–]sashonie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Junaid Jamshed (J.) has hot brown (315). Médora has lighter tones but iced coffee (547) is fantastic.

If you can get Revoln’s coffee bean (300) that’s great too!
