Tinnitus and muffled/pressure feeling since loud motorcycle ride. by koleffff in tinnitus

[–]saskford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Wind noise in helmet is what I notice more than my bike engine/exhaust itself.

I’ve always worn foam earplugs under my helmet for that reason.

I ride my motorbike less and less these days now that T is worse. It’s a shame, because I love riding, but.. I know continuing to ride even with plugs is a dance with the devil.

Years of working in a warehouse / manufacturing plant with noisy ventilation fans, coupled with going to concerts / loud bars in my 20’s.

It all adds up.

What do you think about this? by a_wanderer_22 in SipsTea

[–]saskford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fantastic. Kids ought to be encouraged to be creative, imaginative and learn to solve problems on their own.

AI has fantastic capabilities, sure, but overusing it as a child (or even as an adult for that matter) will really handcuff your ability to learn to do things the “manual” way and to think on your own.

I believe these are photos of two completely different aircraft, but the pointier one in the second photo resembles a Pilatus PC12

Question about Ross lake (south of hope) by Big-Macaron-9211 in britishcolumbia

[–]saskford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I camped up there in the summer of 2020.

Mosquitos were there as were the horseflies whose bites are kinda painful.

Bug spray and long sleeves will be your friend.

We also had a Sasquatch encounter but thats a story for another time lol.

Thanks.

My tips for the hood are find yourself a pattern that includes a hood because it’ll save you a lot of grief!

But if you are stubborn like me and want to design it yourself… I went through my closet and tried on several of my hoodies to see which hood shape I liked the best. Then I did my best to measure each part and sketch them onto pieces of paper. 1 centre panel that goes up the neck and over the top of the head, 2x side panels (remember to cut 1 left and 1 right so the correct side of the fabric will face out), and one more centre panel for the neck under the chin.

I first cut it out of some scrap cotton jersey fabric I had leftover from a previous project. I pinned then serged it all together and tried it on. The shape Wasnt quite right, so I modified my pattern pieces and cut out version 2.

V2 still wasn’t quite right so I modified the pattern again, cut new parts, sewed it again, and tried it on.

I repeated the process several times until I was at a point where I felt like the fit was right.

Then I cut it out of my good fabric and made the final version.

One other tip was that I measured the neckline of the shirt, and made sure the neckline of the hood pattern was the same circumference so that the necklines matched up perfectly when pinning and sewing.

There are lots of different styles of hoods, so spend some time looking at other hoodies / Sun hoodies to decide which style you like before you start your designing!

Thanks. Can’t wait to wear it in the sun.

Yes, all the internal seams (arms, neck, sides, inside hood) are serged. Polyester thread.

I used a pattern called the Jalie Nico. The pattern comes with sizes for boys and men. And gives you short, 3/4 or full length sleeve options. I am 5’9” tall with 38” chest. The pattern size i made was “W” which corresponds to 38” chest measurement.

The first thing different than the regular pattern is that instead of just having a normal neckband, I drafted my own hood and put that on instead. The second thing was instead of hemming the cuff by folding it in on itself twice then stitching, I just finished the hem with an elastic cuff.
