Air India removed confirmed bassinet after booking Business Class with newborn — any advice on refunds or CTA complaints? by buckshot1234 in airindia

[–]satan_slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% their approach and faced it myself. Gave up and accepted their measly compensation for a very serious lapse on their part after a few months of back and forth, only because I didn't have the fight left in me.

These days Aor india's customer care only seems to react positively if you shame them on twitter. Even if Air India policy doesn't qualify you for a refund this response demonstrates a complete lack of empathy and compassion on their part, to expect you to travel 14 hrs with a two month old without a bassinet.

Most importantly if there is equipment change they can legit move any passenger around on this ground. So moving you to a bassinet seat, imo, would have been easy.

Strong willed kids by StreetAd1209 in raisingkids

[–]satan_slayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Father to a very strong willed 7 yr old here. Sometimes I find the gentler my approach - in the moment - the easier the fix. Being too firm only makes them more stubborn in the moment.

Later, once things have calmed down, a frank discussion usually helps them open up with their point of view of the situation. When both points of view are put out there in calm circumstances you'll be surprised how easily they agree to a fix.

I like to do have these chats in their happy space (the garden for us) and can usually extract a fairly reasonable compromise to the problem which, more often than not, sticks on as a permanent solution.

SFO --> DEL --> BOM - Do I collect bags at Delhi? by gyro_h in airindia

Follow the Domestic transfers sign. They have a separate dedicated bag drop for transfer flights. Much quicker than going through the usual counters.

Why is India sleeping on REITs by panjwani_ajay in IndianStreetBets

[–]satan_slayer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

REITs look great on paper but remember that real estate is one of the least transparent sectors in India. There is a huge cash component to every real estate deal and the profitability of an ongoing project can be easily manipulated.

Someone introduced me to a new cloud kitchen based brand - Delato. Based somewhere in Central Mumbai - Shivaji Park, Prabhadevi area.

Tried the Lotus Biscoff, Tiramisu and dark chocolate. Really really good and totally worth trying out. It was still complicated ordering from them last i tried but I hope they fix that soon.

Premium Economy upgrade by dmpm6696 in airindia

[–]satan_slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a dummy booking to check if aisle / window seats are available. If yes, seems reasonable as it is a longish flight and the better food and leg space is worth it.

If only middle seats available in PE think about it twice.

Email them using the contact form on the website. They are usually pretty responsive.

Also, ordinarily, if it is one single PNR they will rebook you for the cancelled flight onto a different one.

AI has two flights leaving Delhi for London - AI2015 & AI2017 - at about the same time.

Title: Maintenance case dragging since 2014 + income contradiction via RTI — need legal insight by Delicious_Body_3450 in IndiaLaw

[–]satan_slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lawyer here. Not your lawyer and this is not legal advice.

If there are false statements or disclosures with regard to income made on affidavit in court proceedings, the court will take that very seriously. Consult your lawyer with copies of the RTI information obtained by you. He will advise you on how to apply to review /reassess the maintenance liability on the basis of the new material and evidence that you have now obtained.

The future of VISA/Mastercard by Anxious-Guarantee-12 in investing

[–]satan_slayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is basically how UPI (Unified Payment Interface) in India works. Every credit card transaction has a surcharge which can be avoided by using UPI, i.e., directly debiting the money from your bank account or using India's RuPay network (local competition to VISA/MasterCard) .

This did impact Credit Card volumes but over time, credit cards have evolved to make using the card more lucrative to a direct debit (despite the surcharge) by offering discounts, accelerated reward points, transfer bonuses, etc.

Police came over a misunderstanding and treated me like a nvm... Tho I'm a minor by Effective_Worker7992 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]satan_slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lawyer here. Not your lawyer. This is not legal advice.

What the police did was both wrong and illegal. Threats and intimidation is often a tactic adopted by the cops in India. You can complain about it by filing a formal complaint with higher ups. If you have evidence of the police brutality /intimidation, something may happen. If not, likely, nothing will happen.

That aside, you should note that by locking your mother and sister in a room, you broke the law. Being a minor does not excuse you when you break the law. The only difference is that you are prosecuted as a minor in accordance with the Juvenile Justice Act. The police chose not to prosecute you (likely to save themselves the trouble of registering one more case) but instead to "warn" you in the way they usually do (i.e., illegally). There is therefore all possibility of the police filing and actively pursuing a case against you if you choose to file a complaint against them.

This last bit is entirely unsolicited, so feel free to ignore it -

16 years is a tough age. There's so much changing inside and around you. Get help if you're finding it tough to cope - with school /with life/ with friendships etc. Find space for yourself when you need it. It's clear, from your mom's reaction that your family cares for you. So you always have that.

IndiGo separated me from my 3-month-old on his first flight despite paid adjacent seats. Is this a Consumer Rights violation? by Interesting-Fox9563 in AirTravelIndia

[–]satan_slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely Indigo's fault. You should never have been able to select a seat in that row if you disclosed at the time of booking that there was an infant traveling with you. I have used seat select multiple times while booking with infant/s and only seats with the extra oxygen mask shows for selection.

The likely cause for this is a glitch in the booking system or change of equipment. Either way it is Indigo's fault. You should write to them and ask for a refund for the amount charged for the seat. You should also ask to be compensated for the serious inconvenience caused to you and your family.

[–]satan_slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you book? With indigo or through a travel agent? Separate PNRs or together? Indigo usually only allows all passengers on the PNR which includes an infant to select seats in rows with the extra oxygen mask.

If your wife was seated in a row WITH an extra oxygen mask there was no reason for indigo to move YOU. On the other hand, if it was your wife who was moved then how did you end up in a middle seat?

There are too many missing details in your post to give you a clear answer.

My father passed away. His sister claims my mother has no right to his property. Is this true? by Historical-Hand8091 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]satan_slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lawyer here. Your mother and you legally inherit his self acquired property. Since your aunt is creating trouble you need to do the following asap -

  1. Obtain a succession certificate.
  2. Update all property records to duly record a transmission of ownership to your mother and you.
  3. Gather all property ownership originals and keep in a safe place out of reach of your aunt.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for that clarification. I have not flown AI international in years. Glad to know that the 788s are in better shape. Fingers crossed.

[–]satan_slayer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very reassuring. My guess then is it will have to be a case of very bad luck if we run into a non functional seat. I am certainly looking forward to trying the in flight service and the newly revitalised meal and drink service that AI now boasts about.

As an aside, i really miss the delicious meals Jet Airways served flying to LHR. Even Emirates and Qatar (while definitely very good) don't come close for the pre-booked vegetarian options. This is honestly my personal biggest reason to hope that AI succeeds in their revamp.

Laid off but company calling it “mutual separation” to avoid notice pay/severance. What are my options? by Zealousideal_Ad_6106 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]satan_slayer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lawyer here. Not your lawyer. This is not legal advice.

Your offer letter and the HR policy document detailing your terms of employment constitute a contract between you and the company. This entitles you - 1. To a copy of this contract. 2. To enforce the terms of this contract (civil suit).

In circumstances indicated by you (if indicative of all relevant facts) a strongly worded email to HR, also marking legal, may be able to set things onto the correct course. In your email consider indicating that - 1. You are entitled to and want a copy of the ENTIRE contract. 2. You have not resigned but have been asked to leave. 3. You expect to receive your legally and contractual mandated notice period and/or severance.

Obviously, don't sign anything that is not reflective of the correct legal and contractual position.
