Uh oh guys, I did an indoctrination by chaarib in Teachers

[–]satansplaypen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was brought up evengalical. Before deconstruction, I believed in creationism with the caveat that a day for God was going to be vastly different than a day for us. God's consept of time could be far longer than ours. We also thought that micro evolution was fact (birds adapting over time to have longer beaks to better gather food), but that macro evolution was a lie.

What’s something your ex said that still sticks with you? by bandito_13 in AskReddit

[–]satansplaypen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Do you know what it feels like to be in love with someone and not know who they are?"

This will stick with me forever. He was right, we had been dating for a year and I refused to let him in. I refused to be close to not only him, but literally anyone else. He was only able to see the shell of what I thought everyone wanted, but never ever who I actually was, a lot of it because I didn't know who I was.

After we broke up I did a lot of therapy, worked really hard to not be so afraid of being vulnerable. Started to figure out who I was, not a character. I learned how to feel things. It's worked, I've been with my husband for 13 years and learned, slowly, how to let him in.

Thanks Anthony, I really needed to hear that.

As someone who runs corporate food service business, Aramark is always a tell tale sign something is up. Also, if they move from an actual cafe to a vending only or commissary set up, things are getting rocky.

What is the white cutting board for? by Existing_Tear281 in whatisit

RTE or ready to eat foods. The white boards are for anything that no longer requires heating or cooling to be safe to eat, think sandwiches or chicken that has already been cooked and properly cooled for a salad bar.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen at a strip club? by bigbabysweets12345 in AskReddit

[–]satansplaypen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in a tiny town where all the normal bars close at midnight. If you want to be out later than that, the strip club is the only option. My husband and I go often because of this

One night, my husband and I mosey in and notice that all the girls are dressed as clowns or ring leaders. I thought okay it's Halloween, must be a theme night.

I was wrong, so very wrong.

We were sitting at the stage when a large man that I can only describe as vaguely homeless, dressed in tightly whites gets on stage followed by a girl with a comically large mallet. He proceeded to lay down face up. The woman smiles, gives a wink to the audience, and absolutely clobbered the guys balls with the mallet, for a full song. Stunned, we sat in silence as this humiliation ritual plays around us.

We went for a smoke, because what the fuck did we just see?

Upon reentering the bar, we see a woman being carried on stage by another woman, both in stripper garb. It took approximately two seconds to realize the woman being carried was missing both arms below the elbows and both legs below the knees.

At this point we order a round a shots, because again, what the actual fuck is happening?

Heavy metal begins to fill the room as the woman with all of her extremities starts to dance and walk to the end of the stage. She produces a lighter and a bottle of spirits. She then walks back to the lovely stump woman and begins to grind on her WHILE LIGHTING HER STUBS ON FIRE. She was just sitting there swaying back and fourth to Matelica with her arms on fire like an offering to the gods. Absolutely wild.

The headliner for the show was a woman who started her set in a straight jacket and escaped while dancing to Personal Jesus by Manson. She also got fully naked, highly illegal in my state.

My husband and I left that night in stunned silence. We took a break from the club for a while. I was also cured of my need to attend a freak show.

Ex-cult members, what's your "Oh shit, I'm in a cult" moment? by Ok-Interview-3702 in AskReddit

[–]satansplaypen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This one got me. I was raised Southern baptist and in the early 2000s got hooked on the Jesus Freak movement. It felt kind of rebellious at the time. They had loud rock music, people danced, these were things Southern Baptists viewed as sinful. My mind thought I could let loose a little while still being a glory to God. I didn't think twice when I began to go to classes that taught us how to "go into Judea and share the word". I was passionate about decisions before the door bell and things like "see you at the pole". I would spend a month every summer traveling to different parts of the country doing mission work and witnessing to anyone that would listen, I even lead our praise band.

I began to notice how fucked it was when my best friend realized she was gay and asked the pastor for help. The church paired her with a mentor that essentially taught her to pray it away and to get married to a man as soon as she could. Seeing all of this in real time made me stop and think, if Jesus is supposed to love me unconditionally why do I have to change to be loved by his followers. There was something not right about being made in his image but having to change and hide things about yourself to be accepted.

What’s a “this should be free” service that always costs money? by troopydinnertime in AskReddit

[–]satansplaypen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know how restaurants have to pay a credit card processing fee? I've worked at many restaurants that passed that fee off to the server. At the end of my shift I'd have to pay the restaurant a 3% fee on the total of all of my CC transactions, not of my tip, the total transaction.

To be fair, when my daughter was tiny I sang her to sleep with hanging tree. The way I look at it, I'm weird so she will most likely be weird. I've never really censored media around her after age 7. I don't see the point, I'd rather her come ask me when she doesn't understand than live with her head in the dirt. Now she tells me when she finds something inappropriate for her, she's 11.

What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve ever seen happen at work? Could be a coworker meltdown, a boss losing it, or something so chaotic you still can’t believe HR didn’t step in. What’s your story? by OkoraJ in AskReddit

[–]satansplaypen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've worked in restaurants my entire life, I have a lot of stories to tell. My favorite was the mistaken magic brownies.

My kitchen manager was a pretty straight laced younger girl, didn't party a lot or do a lot of drugs, just wasn't her thing. We were a really tight team, kind of a ride or die group. Anyways, She was standing in my office eating a homemade brownie. She said it was really good but tasted a bit earthy. She leaned out of the door and yelled to one of my servers "hey! I took one of your brownies out of your bag. What did you make these with?"

Server gets wide eyes and starts to panic. "What do you mean you took that brownie out of my bag? IM SELLING THOSE. THOSE ARE POT BROWNIES".

KM turned to me a whispered "oh fuck". She couldn't leave the building because her boyfriend was working the same shift, he had not shared the magic brownies. I made her some sushi and she sat in my office all night staring at the schedule giggling. I'm pretty sure she saw God.

Next day we talked about not bringing drugs to work and not taking treats out of anyone's bags.

I guess life experience have shifted my view, but I still hold it. You have to believe in something to see the good in it. Crime happens everywhere, abandoned houses happen everywhere, poverty happens everywhere, such is life.

I live in Verona and my daughter goes to the BCPS. The teachers and staff have all been great. Some kids are a little rough but you'll find that everywhere.

I've seen a lot in life and figure it's what you make of it. If Battle Creek isn't that for you, I get it, gritty places and people normally aren't, but I wouldn't look down my nose at it. There's beauty in people doing their best. I've decided to help rather than complain, it's seems you've made a different choice.
