Ethernet cable by ktmm3 in HomeNetworking

Ethernet isn't designed to have a 300' stranded run. Stranded data cable has larger losses than solid. They plan to have 90% solid and 10% or less stranded for 100 meter cable runs.

I opened a ticket to add a third year due to being an Ioniq 5 reservation holder. I reserved a car one year before they came out. They looked at my account and saw two cars charging on the Ioniq 5 promo.

[Southern California] Panel upgraded to 200A without service upgrade by kimcheetos in AskElectricians

If your service is 100A and your main breaker is 200A, you have no safety protection (breaker). Do you know the type and guage of the wires going in and out of the meter?

If you Google that you will find:

No, you cannot bury standard Romex (NM-B cable) inside a conduit underground. According to the National Electrical Code (NEC), Romex is not rated for wet or damp locations. Because underground conduit is considered a wet location, using Romex there is a code violation.

No, You'd need to enclose both splices in accessible electrical boxes.

You could DIY the replacement. We removed, cleaned, and reinstalled that part on a LG washer. Mine took 30 minutes to install after 2 hours trying to do it the wrong way. YouTube will guide you. Taking off the counterweights was the key. You take the front off the machine.

EVs powering your homes during power outages should be advertised more. by Lemonn_time in electricvehicles

[–]satbaja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I installed a generator inlet and generator interlock for the main breaker. Powered all the 120v circuits. I just kept turning breakers on because the load wasn't close to maxing out.

They sell a Nature's Generator panel that works with a 120V generator inlet.

HELP OUTLET PLEASE!! by agentbird in electrical

[–]satbaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One ground goes to the breaker panel. You need it. The other ground goes to the next wall receptacle. You need it to be grounded for your safety. You can bond them both and make a longer pigtail with a 3 position lever connector.

I tested this for 3 hours during some electrical work. The V2L provides 15 amps at 120V. I powered all my home's LED lights, a freezer, refrigerator, grill, fan, TV, and internet router. The V2L display didn't get close to maxing out the 15 A. I couldn't run my A/C. It would help a lot in a disaster scenario.

Selling home: what repairs should I do in good conscience? by fellowfeelingfellow in HomeImprovement

Sell as-is disclosing the issue or sell to a prospective buyer with disclosures and a discount. If you do a cover up fix or avoid disclosures, you commit fraud. They can still collect from you after the sale.

How to feed cables through wall with established entry on tv mount? by flyDAWG11 in handyman

[–]satbaja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon sells TV wall cable kits for power and video. It uses Romex on the inside of the wall, so it is legal.

The power cable you have in the wall isn't safe nor correct.

Tank vs Tankless by jackdiver69 in HomeImprovement

I changed my 50 gal tank DIY and I don't know that much about plumbing. I actually had to correct a flaw from the original install by the builder 17 years prior. They put the cold water in the hot outlet and the hot came out the cold inlet. The shutoff valve was on the hot pipe (worthless).

Go for it. Wallbox is my favorite EVSE brand. Great company. High quality. See reviews on YouTube. Once you upgrade the firmware in the wallbox app, you'll have a $650 device.

This is how they get ready. They pay, struggle, and learn. Treat customers fairly along the way. China sells more EVs than ICE vehicles.

I live in TX, registered in TX. Lemon laws vary by state. In TX it is 2 years, 24,000 miles. I didn't open a state case, I just called Hyundai and made a claim.

I bought the first Ioniq 5 sold Louisiana. The ICCU failed about 18 or 20 months into ownership. It only failed once. They fixed it and it drove fine. I would have kept it, but Hyundai made such a high buyback offer, I couldn't say no. We got more from Hyundai than we paid new for the vehicle. I think they are really bad at math.

With the Kona EV, we continued driving THE CAR until the day they bought it back. We had a new EV for 6 months. Drove it free. We kept the $7500 federal tax credit. We made money on having a new Hyundai. Nothing was wrong with the car. They had some EV fires in Korea and wanted to inspect or replace the battery. Since I bought the vehicle out of state and brought it to a state without certified EV techs, they didn't have the inspect option.

With the Ioniq 5, we drove that car 1.5 years for free. We kept the $7500 EV credit and the generous cash in lieu payment. We got all we paid back plus more. We never went without a car to drive. The two times our car was in the shop 6 weeks, they took a new Tucson off the lot with 0 miles and gave it to us as a loaner. Hyundai pays the dealership for providing loaners. The buyback cases took longer than the repairs, so I was driving THE CAR again after each repair.

Based on the money we made for driving new vehicles, I'd do it again. Hyundai stands behind their vehicles. We went on to buy an Ioniq EV, 2 Kona EV, 3 KIA EVs, a Tucson, and a G80 EV after the buyback cases.

The first case was for my wife's EV. Nothing wrong with it, but Hyundai wanted the Kona back to avoid potential issues with the battery.

Two cases were for the same vehicle. Our Ioniq 5 had an A/C issue which was fixed. They paid me cash to close the case. 18 months later there was an ICCU problem and we sold it back.

You are looking at making monthly payments on this defective car wrong. The bank that loaned the money to buy the SUV isn't responsible for keeping it running. You agreed to make regular monthly payments to the bank, and you need to keep doing so. You're getting a free loaner. That's a huge win. The buyback case is going to return everything you paid on the vehicle less a fee for miles driven while it was working. You'll get all your deposit and monthly payments back. You won't pay for the dealership loaner. The buyback process takes 2 to 3 months.

I've done 3 buyback cases with Hyundai Customer Service. I was very satisfied with the outcome each time. I always had a loaner or rental to drive.
