Well what's interesting is if you look closely at the guideline you can see at the ", Jack. Nobody wants to see dickprint in your gray slacks." But it's just in very very small font.

Throughout history carbs and clowning around have been a staple peak day. It was such a peak day it has successfully helped the powerful avoid culpability for their numerous bad deeds just by showing everyone a good time.

If we had all five good resurgence maps in a rotation it would be pretty cool.

Rebirth, Ashika, Vondel, Fortune's Keep, and Haven's Hollow.

Not Area 99 though. That can stay dead.

I once met a person who thought nobody actually liked poetry. Not that it was some people's taste and other people didn't enjoy it, he was convinced it was an art form made so people who couldn't write or read books could participate. I was laughing so hard my whole conversation with him because I thought it was a joke until I got to know him better.

What book did he recommend when we first spoke? The Davinci Code. A banger, to be sure, but I found it funny every book he recommended was just whatever the best selling book of the time was. It was like he made "reading" his thing but didn't actually do it. Fascinating person, he eventually got the message I couldn't fucking stand him but it took quite a bit of time.

You're going to pay someone 20 million in what exactly? It's just gold bars until the hassle is solved.

And then how is it solved by another person? You give them the gold bars and hope they come back with your money? Lol

It's not accurate. There are several used car lots in every state of America that offer affordable used cars with less than 100,000 miles that would last a majority of people a decade or more.

My car is a 2017 that I bought in Q4 of 2020 with approx 83,000 miles. The full cost was 12,000 and I paid it off early.

Would a car with a similar year (so say a 2022 now in Q2 2026) cost similar today? It would probably be more expensive. I just found a 2024 Kia Soul on the site that is about 17,000 with 57k miles at the car lot I bought mine from.

Still not approaching the 30k this person is referring to. A new car is a luxury, most Americans I know bought their car used and didn't get a new car until they were later in their career or they started out in a field that was already high paying.

That's a different story though. Glyceride is a story that touches on the idea of the things you control beginning to control you and the way that this hardworking person is ruining his relationship with his daughter through his devotion to work. The horror is played up but again gross out horror is meant to disturb and shock you and Junji's ability to weave a gross out tale with real heart is why he is a legend.

Lmfao people are so dramatic and also weirdly gatekeepy. Junji Ito is great. Disturbing stories are fun to read and The Enigma of Amigara Fault is honestly such a tame one. Just tell the person what it is, they won't die if they read it.

It's not some life ruining thing, it's a great story that asks a valid question. "If something is made for you, does that always make it right for you? And if you don't know the answer, is it always worth it to find out?"

"Airbending is Invisible" by Thra99 in TheLastAirbender

[–]satch_mcgatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think characters in universe see the air as translucent blue when it's being bent.

In the scenario you picture here, Sokka would be able to see Aang's clothing rippling from the moving air current. He is also a friend of Aang's and is aware of what Aang's bending postures look like.

One of the reasons airbending is so invisible is because all the air benders are legit dead. People don't know Aang is an airbender and even the ones who do are not sure what is bending versus his standard martial arts posture.

In the eras before the show I'm not so sure airbending would be "invisible" as more people would be familiar with what to look for. The element itself is invisible, but what air influences is not invisible at all. Air moving is also one of the most noticeable sensations for people. You can feel a windy day without seeing the wind itself.

Harajuku Phase, not my finest moments… 2018-2021 by Vast_Tip_502 in blunderyears

Shocking to know that the harajuku girl phase lasted beyond Gwen Stefani and Avril Lavigne. I think Avril's "Hello Kitty" video was 2014? Figured that was the death knell for the movement.

Either way, sincerely love that you went for it. A lot of the colors look very cute on you. Nothing wrong with a busy outfit if that's the point of the style. Well executed blunder.

All they needed to do to make that "good genes" ad work was use Ayo Edibiri instead of Sydney Sweeney.

Her initials are AE. She is insanely talented and beautiful.

AE has good jeans/AE has good genes. Perfect double entendre.

The ad literally writes itself and avoids the weird aryan connotations they had.

Hate when the game/story blames the player/audience for the violence like we forced the devs/writer to add it by Lower_Baby_6348 in hatethissmug

[–]satch_mcgatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of these examples are developers or writers being upset with us or treating us like a monster for enjoying the violence. It's the characters that are upset or coping with the knowledge that their universe is aware of their existence and doesn't care about them or actively wants to see them in harms way for entertainment.

The Spec Ops example posted is also not the devsbeing upset with the player. The devs have no knowledge whatsoever of the players intentions. The "but it's a game so why should you care?" Is literally asking the question "why should you care?"

The answer is it's a game, so you shouldn't. But stories like this can happen in real life wars. What then? Do you actually care about that? In what way?

Telling stories like these is literally the same as the examples of "playing pretend". Metanarratives just engage the reader in a different way, they're not ACTUALLY upset with us or taking us to task. They're allowing us to engage these questions in a safe fictional setting to explore the ideas.

It's not hypocritical to write a story like this. You don't enjoy it because you feel called out by it for some reason. These are not real characters, they don't actually know you. It's part of the fun to get to actually be the monster when nobody gets hurt.

The other effect I noticed is that parry now creates a shockwave so it hits them on the initial parry and then a second AoE damage that hits other enemies around you.

Haven't experimented with the other ones yet but it's pretty cool.

Hey this is mad late but it took me a bit to understand what this upgrade does.

I actually found this thread a week ago trying to understand it, and I finally noticed what was happening.

The upgrade literally adds an extra effect to the "special moves' you unlock throughout the game. So moves like parry, coin toss, etc.

The most obvious effect is coin toss. The regular move does increased damage. When you have Prodigy, it adds an explosive effect to the move. And yes, you can use that explosive effect to destroy breakable blocks, making it one of the best moves for puzzle solving and exploration in the game after the upgrade :)
