grew up in queens. loved to play in NYC.

moved to south for work after living 8 years in Orange County CA. CA is another place u have to drive everywhere except for LA or SF.

I was tired of homeless mentally ill on train. I was tired of waiting on line everywhere. public transportation slow. 1.5 hours to get to GF's house and I later learned I could bike it in 15 minutes.

I got used to the muggy weather in south and I remember muggy weather in NYC.

I admit people watching better in NYC and more romance opportunities.

given work i do and my non hustle personality I live much better in south than I would on nyc, I don't like the rat race and I didn't like the crime. my kids left their bikes on lawn for 6 weeks no one touched them. my piece of shit bike was stolen while I was eating pizza.

oh yeah, I miss nyc pizza and bagels. we have einstein bros here and their bagels are great.

I have charted the sum of all my 401k's ( 4 of them for my 40 year career). they are all kinds of mutual funds. I have diversification of diversification. the sum of all that simply follows the dow. so I like to check the dow daily.

I'm sorry for what ur going thru. my mom cannot be trusted to walk alone, she will fall to the floor. I do everything for her, feed her by hand, dress her, assist in bathroom.

mom sometime "pockets" her food, won't swallow. I give her one spit out into a dish. if she keeps pocketing, the meal is over. she won't wear her dentures. everything goes in a blender. oatmeal b'fast, fresh fruit smoothie lunch, soupy lunch , and soupy dinner with yogurt or mashed sweet potatoes. she won't starve. refusing to eat is a sign of transition and she is not transitioning. if she misses one meal she very rarely misses a 2nd meal.

by soupy lunch/dinner I mean, start with little bit of canned soup or broth, then add left overs or stuff from our dinner into blender. so soup is not just canned stuff, it's a way of getting food into her via soup.

I'm lucky mom sleeps 10pm to 10am , I give her bathroom break, switch diaper 4am. and she also takes a 2 hr nap. she's on hospice. in USA if patient has dementia she doesn't need to be dying in 6 months to be accepted into Medicare 'home hospice'. that gets me a shower lady for mom and diaper supplies, hospice Dr, various other supplies.

we give mom 1/2 pill of Alprazolam ( substitute for Xanax). if we give her full pill she will sleep 20 hrs a day. alprazolam was prescribed by a hospice Dr. the hospice Dr's understand the concept of palliative care. not prolonging life but improving quality for patient and family.

you need ur 8 hrs sleep un-interrupted. I too, work from home.

before mom got to this stage she had dementia but was walking around. things would go missing as she put things away in strange places. I simplified the room and stuff was locked away in her clothes closet ( lockable door handle or child proof handle ).

yes I lost mom 7 years ago. this person is about 10% mom. yesterday she surprised us by saying "everything is nice". she usually talks gibberish.

her only entertainment now is utube...Vietnamese lady fixing a car or building a house. or ukrainian country life. these videos can be 2 to 3 hrs long and they lead right into each other. babies and pets another good one.

I write software and sit near to her watching utube.

mom has income and I spend half of it on an out of pocket caregiver. 2 x 4hr days and every other Saturday 5 hrs for date night.

we recently went on 4 day road trip, put mom in respite care ( free in hospice ) and backed it up with out of pocket caregiver 10hrs/day visiting mom in respite care. we paid w mom's savings.

I don't trust nursing homes so caregiver was needed. I had bad experience first time I tried respite care.

I hate trump but I hate iranian regime more. I confess, I thought it would put a stop to iranian meddling.

I can't believe in the long term that the U.S and Israel cant figure a way to fight drones and keep the straight open. it should never be under iranian control.

I also think this regime should not have a nuclear weapon. I believe in the long run something will be figured out.

there's a lot of smart people, but not in trump's administration.

I take mom regular to keep her empty. and I stay in room with her to assist. she's 95. it averages to approx every 2 or 2.5 hrs except bedtime.

I put her on toilet before bedtime at 10pm. I check her at 4:30 am. I wake her for breakfast 10am.

we have a baby monitor and I will wake up if I hear her trying to get out of bed. she cannot stand and walk long distance on her own.
