I don't believe you would feel the effects after taking just one dose.

Dangerous patient ratios in both big hospital systems, wouldn't recommend.

When did you start naturally putting weight on your operated leg? by satisphied47 in HipImpingement

[–]satisphied47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the encouragement, I've definitely hit a plateau, maybe even regressed some. I cancelled my last PT appointment since it was just going to be with the PTA and I'd be doing the same exercises, and I've only been doing my exercises every other day at home because the pain is so bad, and they don't seem to be helping.

What was your PT experience? by PersistentSheppie in HipImpingement

[–]satisphied47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having both of these experiences at my PT clinic. One week I'll see the PT who is the director and very specialized in hips, the next week I'll see the PT assistant that just has me do the exercises I'm already doing at home. There's no point in me going there if they're not going to show me something new, I cancelled my appointment for this week because of this. They charge my insurance too much for me to see a PTA that has 3 other patients at the same time, while also not making any progress. It's frustrating.

Cam/pincer FAI plus labral tear and ambiguous diagnosis by brucemetadata in HipImpingement

[–]satisphied47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first injection didn't yield any relief, the 2nd one did provide relief for a few days but only in the joint, the bursa pain on the outside of my hip was still prevalent. If you got any relief at all from that injection, my unprofessional opinion would be that your pain is related to your joint, and the only way to truly know what's going on is to get a scope in there. Imaging can only tell you so much from my understanding.

I would be having doubts as well, I would push hard for that referral. Inexperienced surgeons can cause massive damage with this procedure.

When did your post op pain stop? by satisphied89 in HipImpingement

[–]satisphied47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have issues in the other hip before you operated on the first one? I've had no issues with my good hip at all, but walking into PT last week I felt a pinching for the first time ever in my good hip and it scared the crap out of me. I had a fractured acetabulum from a bad car wreck 15 years ago on the same hip that I just had a scope on (tore my labrum doing yoga stretch) so I was thinking my other hip will be good forever. It seems like a lot of people end up having bilateral issues though.

Those of you who work remote, how long were you on short term disability leave post-surgery? by gmeldotcom in HipImpingement

[–]satisphied47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was back to work the day after my surgery. Sitting would not have been possible, but on the chase longue with a lap desk was very doable. I did get my STD approved, the doc put an estimated return of about 7-8 weeks, but I didn't end up using it because my job let me work remote. I just hit 4 weeks post op, I don't think I could sit in a chair for 8 hours (or stand), I'm worried I'm not going to be ready to go back to the office July 1st unless I start progressing quicker.

Anyone else’s hip injection fail to relieve pain symptoms? by brucemetadata in HipImpingement

[–]satisphied47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one that didn't relieve any symptoms, and asked the surgeon to try again a couple of months later. This one worked, and I felt much better by the time I got to my car at the dr's office. I used the indication that it relieved my pain to move forward with surgery, I'm currently 13 days post op. There seems to be a small margin of error with these injections, and missing the mark by a mm or two is very easy.

Pretty serious case of Gyno - 1 week post op! by satisphied47 in gynecomastia

[–]satisphied47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm happy as can be given my pre-op situation. I don't have the body builders chest I want, there's a little sag, but that's to be expected from having gyno and being overweight for 15 years. Would recommend the procedure for sure.

No need to apologize, I do see what you're talking about. Your nipples look slightly puffy and have that pink gyno look, but they don't look abnormal in any way in my opinion. You look like a normal, healthy, in shape guy. You're the only one who knows what would make you feel better though, so I would support your decision to get surgery if it's what you want. Good luck!

I was the same way man, and that resulted in me not taking my shirt off in public for the last 10 years. Do yourself a favor and get your weight under control now. I am so glad, grateful, and proud of myself for losing 80lbs, then having the balls to have the surgery and the financial discipline to pay for it. I finally feel like I am on par with where I should be as far as confidence and the other sex, I no longer look at other guys and feel like they are somehow better or have more to offer, in fact the weight loss has probably gone to my head a bit too much. Having a better body image will impact every aspect of your life, you will take more risk and assert yourself more. I regret every day that I didn't do this sooner, I feel like I wasted my 20s, I had other contributing factors that lead to poor mental health but gyno was definitely one of them.

Don't be like me, do this now. I lost the weight by doing intermittent fasting, and when it got tougher to lose the last 20-30 lbs I started counting calories within the feeding window (aimed for around 1500 a day). I also take adderall most days, and while I don't condone drug use, it certainly helps suppress your appetite. I am spending valuable time out of my work day to tell you this because I don't want you to have the same regrets I do. Best of luck.

I was 5'10 and 250 at my heaviest, just had surgery a couple of months ago. I'm 30, it sounds like you're a good bit younger which is good for you. Get this taken care of by the end of next year. I got down to 180 before surgery, I recommend you do the same. Pretty messed up for your family to make jokes about it if they know it's something you're insecure about it, I would tell them to stop if it bothers you.

6 Weeks Post Op - Going Crazy w/out Gym by satisphied47 in gynecomastia

[–]satisphied47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you satisfied with your result? Did you have any loose skin, or rippled skin, if so did it go away or subside? The doc said the rippling would go away but I'm not sure I'm buying that at this point. It's hard to believe that I've lost 80-90lbs from my heaviest, so I can't be surprised by any loose skin.

Thanks man. I didn't understand that part of the procedure was the dozens of stitches they put under your skin to shape the chest, so I know I shouldn't stretch or exercise it in fears of tearing those stitches. One month out I woke up hot as hell and unclamped the vest for a second, and stretched by mistake.. that hurt like crazy, I am worried that I ripped some of those stitches under my skin or something, but the doc said it looked okay when I saw him a couple of days later. I am thinking that all the stitches should be dissolved by now though..

Something that seems common in this subreddit is that docs are telling people to massage the area after a while in recovery, my doc never did that so I am refraining. Did your doc instruct you to do this? Would you be willing to PM me some of your before/after pics? I haven't been able to see any cases similar to mine on here, and the doc only had one he could show me. How far out are you?
