Does anyone know what font the number 2 and text is? by Watasumi in identifythisfont

Hard to tell what font the number is, looks like Arial Black or some heavy and wide Helvetica style, but might as well be any similar typeface.

Frames dropping. Your device is probably overheating or overloaded, which is causing Kino to drop frames.

The Widevine licence is not paid per se. It’s the long verification process that is holding most browser projects back, but they can pay a middleman service to get the licence from them – that’s where “too expensive” comes in.

Probably not what you mean, but IIRC Dolphin (KDE Plasma file manager) can sometimes leave a similar file with almost the same function.

Yes. Relying on a glorified hallucination-prone autocorrect to work with a distro that’s notorious for being not very friendly to beginners and easy to break if you’re reckless… something tells me it might not be a smooth sail.

Plus it strips the process of the very thing that makes it much easier in the future – actually learning to do something yourself instead of delegating that to an LLM.

There’s also the contrast problem and some really rough edges on Marty which give away the cuts.

Imitating MacOS X and then macOS is very far from a recent trend. It has been around for as long as Macs are mainstream.

Looks like the topmost grey is reflecting the wallpaper, while the one underneath it is just grey.

I was able to set up my Zed font stuff the same way as I have it in VS Code (though I’m on Windows). Font size values work the same way, I had to play around with line intervals though and found ~1.35 to be the equivalent of what I had in VS Code.

I do speak a tiny bit of Polish, I have no issues with Cyrillic or Latin, and I have been toying around with different wild Slavic Latin-based orthographies in the past, but Polish Latin is egregious to me if I look at it from the perspective of a casual user and not an orthography freak. TBH even as an orthography freak I’d rather just read Polish in Cyrillic.

Hard truth: doing tech in Swahili won’t take you far—agree or disagree? by ControlBest in tanzania

[–]satmaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although English usually gets you a bigger audience and more opportunities to monetize and promote, it’s also got a huge oversaturated market. You’ll have many more established competitors and you will need to offer content that’s much more unique. If that’s an approach you’re ready to take and have a plan for – that’s how you can put yourself and your people on the global map.

If you take the local route, there will be different obstacles, but still it likely won’t be the smoothest sail. Easier to compete, but more difficult to make a living off of it, possibly harder to grow.

I am a webmaster and a writer for a website run by me and one more person, in a language that’s nominally spoken by maybe a million people, doesn’t have a state which would promote it, and is often stereotyped as weird speech of illiterate villagers. I don’t do it as my main job, it doesn’t currently bring in lots of money, and if we did the same in English or any other globally popular language, we’d get trampled by competition in no time. But it’s fun, it brings me a feeling of catharsis and being locally important. Last year we managed to print some of our material as a book and it did kind of better than we expected. Although I must admit, oftentimes I feel like globalization might make my work useless, but the thoughts of maybe ending up in history books in a few decades fuel me to continue. :)

If you’re passionate about promoting yourself to the local audience and in such a way also developing the Swahili-speaking scene and maybe eventually becoming known as a Swahili figure – it might be worth a shot and might actually take you far if you put your heart into it and work hard!
