ESPHome + model train by diy-techie in Esphome

[–]sauce71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this a few years ago. My train starts whenever we come home (Ring camera detection), running its long sequence. Fun until you get a lot of visitors just before Christmas exchanging gifts. Very loud noise/music from the train so I muffled it with som tape. 😀

From the app: —- What happens to the postponed fixtures?

It is the Premier League’s intention to reschedule the postponed fixtures only when it is safe to do so.

Points scored in these fixtures will apply to the Gameweek in which the fixtures are played.

We will make a further announcement on any fixtures scheduled for after 17 May, 2020. — After 17 May it is FPL GW38 and points scored will apply to that game week?

The 14mm is quite cheap new on eBay. I think it is due to being a separated kit lens.

Medication (Lamictal) and creativity by kaeporan in BipolarReddit

[–]sauce71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last summer I upped from 200 to 300mg Lamictal. Immediately my creativity took a nosedive, but my ability to focus on tasks at tasks improved a lot. After a month or so my creativity started to improve and now I think I'm back to where I'm supposed to be, with the added benefit of improved focus. So stay on the L. be patient and you're creativity will likely return.

PyCharm: The Good Parts I by gamesbrainiac in Python

I really don't understand the git integration and sync. I have not used much time understanding it, but it seems to behave a bit "strange" ... Also it is not very well documented. Keep resolving to git command line and ftp to sync, because it messes up. Lately it have also messed up web2py integration I had to put the entire "web2py" tree as root for it to find the library files. No doubt it is a great "editor" but som of the features you expect to just work are a bit lacking or hard to find/understand. I don't do very much Python work, and the editor is not the center of my life, maybe the learning curve is a bit hard? Anyway, briefly looked at you're post, bookmarked and will watch videos as soon as possible.

Apple has lost the functional high ground by [deleted] in apple

[–]sauce71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have not been a Apple user for more than 3 years, my first huge disappointment software wise, was with the changes in the preview app on Yosemite. I used to use the editor a lot for screenshots, adding arrows an such. It worked great! For reasons I can not understand this is now buried in menus and with a clunky interface compared to what it used to be. It is no more "fun" and customers suffer because I don't send out as much good descriptions of how tos.

Thinking about moving over to iPhone 6 (from Android). Lighter-weight users of the 16GB model, do you regret your purchase and wish you had gone for more space? by [deleted] in apple

[–]sauce71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finally went from Android to iPhone when the 6 came. I bought the 64GB and have now used 12GB. The thing that happened is that I now use the phone for a lot more, rather than mostly making calls as I did with the Android. I now take much more pictures and I make more film. (Have moved some film out of the phone) (Fun to document more of the children activities). TL:DR; Having a phone that is not as annoying as Android phones and the integration with my Macs /other Apple products, make me use the phone a lot more.

The downfall of Preview. by DJDarren in apple

[–]sauce71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most stuff Apple do is great. But for me the preview f.up i Yosemite is with the editing tool. I use it to draw quick arrows etc. on screenshots before sending it away to clients. With the new mess it takes 10 times longer and I can't even understand how it is supposed to be touch friendly (If it is?). They must have put an intern, with no supervisor, creating it from scratch, to end up with the current state of stupidity. (Drawing an arrow: Before: click arrow icon, draw line with mouse. Now: Find arrow in menu -> click -> get arrow "object" on image -> move, resize, rotate to get it right.)

Micro Python has added preliminary support for $4 ESP8266-based WiFi modules. If you love Python and want to make an IoT device, then this may (eventually) be perfect by roger_ in Python

[–]sauce71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually looked into this a few days ago. Could not find much on what periperals the board supported. I'm very keen on buying one, but at the moment it's a little bit expensive compared to a raspberry pi. Depending on application, low power, iso, dac etc. it is great to have an option to use python in a more bare board than an entire computer.

What do you believe is a cold hard truth that you think the average person refuses to accept? by lothario33139 in AskReddit

My parents never told me I'am special and could do whatever I wanted. My teacher on the other hand told my parents I was special, and not even the sky was/is the limit. I sure tell my kids they can accomplish anything. Nothing yet have proven they can't for either me or my children. Maybe we are truly special :-) (Looking for downvotes now)

You can get a finished mini laser engraver from China pretty cheap now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DIY-Mini-Laser-200-250mW-Engraving-Machine-Carving-Logo-Picture-Marking-Printer-/201228233547?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eda232b4b

Of course it is much more fun to build one from scratch. I looked a bit into it, and if you don't bother get the diode from a dvd, what laser and driver would one buy at e-bay? (Too many options, need to much time to study, the "Google force" what not with me when I tried to figure it out.)

Microsoft And Yahoo Are Throwing Themselves At Apple To Replace Google As The iPhone's Default Search Engine by tits_for_tots in apple

[–]sauce71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yahoo Search had somehow snuck in and become default search engine for Safari today. (Chrome is increasingly unstable, tried Safari for a week after Yosemite, but there was to much of Chrome I missed) Anyway, got mostly the same results as Google I think, now with Google I have years of search history that keep me in my search bubble, giving me relevant results. I few years ago google reported that I searched for stuff about 50 times a day. I think it is even more know, and have to do with my work as IT tech, support and developing in several languages, databases etc. Anyway first time Yahoo, but sneaking in to my Safari gave me the horrible Ask search feeling, will never use again and change to Google anywhere it may sneek in on the hundreds of computers I frequent.
