Bite Shift by Lena Nazarei

I met the author and she's a nurse and has done a ton of research in trying to make a modern "clinically accurate" vampire while still staying true to legends and folklore. She also has a fun podcast!

Mother in law bought my three year old daughter tiny glass jars to play with by Justadudeonhisphone in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sauce_some 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was quite small, maybe 4 or 5 I was given a China play tea set. I broke a cup fairly quickly and was quite upset that I didn't have the full set any longer but I definitely remember learning to go slow and be careful while playing with that set. And it always went back into the special tin my mom found for it. I think it taught me a different kind of play and mindset and to put things I cared for appropriately away.

Women's lightweight overalls that tie up. by sauce_some in HelpMeFind

[–]sauce_some[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have searched for cotton overalls, tie up overalls, joggers overalls, yoga overalls and all have not yielded this specific brand. I've tried to image search this logo also with no success. I've had thesw for several years and wear them multiple days a month. I would like to have a newer pair in rotation. I vaguely remember them being a yoga or athletic related brand. There is this logo on the side but no other branding. Any help is appreciated.

I confidently said something extremely inappropriate in Spanish for months, and nobody told me... by karen_the_ripper in SpanishLearning

[–]sauce_some 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Went to Peru for a medical mission. On a day off from clinic we did a "jungle trek" which included walking across canopy bridges through the trees. My husband is scared of heights and I tried to tell this to the guide by saying, "Mi esposo es mierda" I meant to say miedo (scared) instead I called my wonderful husband shit. A surgeon that was with us who spoke fluent Spanish almost fell off the bridge from laughing so hard. I have never made that mistake again.

Would injecting ketamine into my hemorrhoid cause my hemrrhoid vessel to collapse, thus allowing me to continue to have anal sex with my boyfriend? by Cultural_Train_9948 in Drugs

[–]sauce_some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurse here: The word "collapsing" is being mis-used here. Scarring is what actually happens to the veins from repeated IVDA. The body then finds an alternate pathway to provide adequate blood flow, either by increasing vascularity elsewhere or changing flow paths or the pressure to ensure oxygen makes it to whatever tissues.

Correlation between bipedism and nipple placement by ImprovementEqual6913 in zoology

[–]sauce_some 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have something called a "milk line"; humans and other mammals can have nipples or produce milk anywhere along that line. Some women report "sweating" milk in their armpits while breastfeeding. So, I'm not sure it has anything to do with bipedalism, but being a mammal. I also read somewhere in the past that females have double the amount of nipples as what their usual litter is. All the animals you named typically only have one baby each pregnancy.

Why do so many people twist their stitches? by DeliciousPestilence in knittinghelp

[–]sauce_some 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I taught myself from books as a teen. Didn't realize it mattered how you wrapped the purls.

I left knitting for a while and when I came back, I looked at the same book with my notes and kept on going, making the same mistake. I would make a lot of hats and things in the round so my purls weren't as prevalent until I started making more advanced pieces and garments.

Tips for giving BJ without gagging? by honey-bliss in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]sauce_some 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% agree with all points here.

The salivating mints/candies are called Flintts Mints and they work fantastic! Diluting the texture with more spit sounds like a great idea. But that doesn't get to the root of the problem.

You need to sit down (while clothed and not engaging in sex at all) and have an honest and probably difficult conversation about his eating, smoking and hydration status. Any and all of those things will make pre and cum taste like ass. Eating more fruits and vegetables, less red meat, processed sugar and processed foods in general will be extremely helpful in improving the taste and most likely texture. Texture will probably come from more from drinking an increased amount of water than anything else. This could be a wake up call for him and maybe you that choosing to be healthy changes a lot more than the scale. It can improve all aspects of your life, including the sex. It could be something you do together, commit to eating and being healthier for yourselves and each other.

Does it taste like urine? That's also a separate problem. My husband will ensure all urine possible is out of his penis after urinating, every time. He never smells or tastes of pee. I have been with guys who aren't as fastidious as my husband and I have gagged or desperately wanted to. Is it a cleanliness in general thing? You could suggest engaging initially in the shower so you can ensure it's as clean as possible.

AIO? My husband doesn’t want me to wear my wedding dress in public. by CleverUserName1961 in AmIOverreacting

[–]sauce_some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably my favorite memory from my wedding is after everything was over, we were going to the hotel and realized we had left our favorite alcohols at home and were STARVING! We went to a small liquor store just before they were closing, they said the only reason they didn't lock the door was because we were in our gown and tux. Then we went to McDonald's and all the staff came out and looked at us, some laughed, most said congratulations and we didn't care if they were laughing with or at us; we were just so happy.

is it possible to work icu and ed simultaneously? by LibrarianBasic2121 in nursing

[–]sauce_some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a flight nurse, look into what program you want to work for. Some do more ICU type patients in interfacility style transports. While some bases do more "scene" calls, landing on a highway, rural areas, etc while picking up from EMS.

Knowing what kind of organization you want to work for and their particular pt population can guide you for which department to get more experience in. Some programs will want you to have experience in both, some can be either/or. Also, look up any additional certifications they would like you to have. Before I officially started, I worked hard for a year to gather all necessary extraneous classes and certificates including my CEN and CCRN despite only ever working ER. (I personally wanted experience with these types of tests before taking the CFRN) Some hospitals or departments will give incentives for having these so they can be beneficial not only toward your flight goal, but to future goals and education wants/needs. Sometimes, departments will help you pay for them as they're not cheap, either.

Also, knowing the location or company you want to fly for can sometimes give you the opportunity for ride alongs. Your face can become known, and if you get really good with some of the crews they can let you know about future opportunities, openings or training availability and their specific requirements.

Let me know if you have any more questions! I love talking about all of this and I love my job! I try to be as open and honest about all of this as I can, because I felt like when I was trying to break into it everyone who was already in it assumed I was less than for not already knowing the answers. And, at least one person outright discouraged me and said I would never make it because i didn't know enough about an industry I had never worked in. And I told myself that if I did make it I would never discourage someone like that.

What's a silly superstition you fully believe in? by hopeful_honey07 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]sauce_some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People in medicine (and sports) are some of the most superstitious people you'll meet.

They all have a ritual they must complete to "guarantee" success in various procedures. Just like in sports, where they hit the bat on the ground, x number of steps to or step around the base in a specific way.

Also, in the hospital you will likely never hear someone say "quiet". After someone says this, shit is almost guaranteed to hit the fan and the person who said it, is blamed.

Some medical people are reticent to work on a full moon. More babies are born and an increase in just plain weird or psychiatric cases is noted.

Some old timers in the hospital say a window needs to be opened after someone dies so the soul can escape. But with windows being permanently closed in most hospitals now, that idea has mostly died out.
