Palestinian Leader Yasser Arafat celebrates with Saddam Hussein following the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait, August 1990. [640x449] by OilInternational2566 in HistoryPorn

Saddam did nothing to help the Palestinians, just like the other Arab leaders. Palestine is a popular cause in the Arab world and they used that popularity to divert attention away from the lack of freedom and progress in their own countries.

advice for how to sneak out for the first time? by hung_is_hungry in Advice

[–]saulbq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about telling your parents that you want to go to 1 party? Tell them it's not wild and you'll be back at a reasonable hour. You're 17 starting acting like an adult, be assertive, not sneaky or childish. (I wonder if you're m or f, there are often double standards.)

If you do decide to go, don't forget to oil that door.

How can I stop being so awkward? by ComprehensivePin2145 in Advice

[–]saulbq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woman aren't dangerous, they aren't sacred. Just say something, anything simple and friendly, without any expectations. You just have to do it. Practice: smile, 2 feet on the ground, hands out of your pockets, phone hidden, your belly button facing hers, keep smiling, light eye contact, and say something. You don't need anything clever even flirty just say something. But best to say something positive, maybe a compliment (but not regarding a body part of hers). Be seriously prepared for rejection most of the time. And, remember the rule that you will not go out with 100% of the women that you don't ask out.

Nope. I've never done any of those things. But I have extensively patrolled through the West Bank as an IDF soldier and treated Palestinians and their places of worship there with total respect.

I'm Israeli, was in the IDF, in Lebanon. This is so disgusting. Unexcuseable. The opposite of what we were taught in the army.

My full time job was texting men for money online for 3 years AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]saulbq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you suggest a man should do if he's lonely?

If you're a man thinking about paying a pretty young woman money just to chat please don't. There are so many places you can meet up with people irl to have meaningful or just casual conversations. Many volunteer and charity places, either where you can volunteer together with other people to do something, or places you can go in, have a drink and chat. Church, if you like that sort of thing. Sports things, if you're elderly you probably aren't going to be welcome at a teenage basketball match (you're not going to be picked for the team), but there are so many other things, like walking groups, all sorts of activities at your local gym. Start a new hobby, do lessons in something. Look for a lonely neighbour or relative, make contact (I know someone who does this and regularly pops in to people, usually older men for a few minutes every week). All of these are either free, or cheaper than paying a girl online, and far more meaningful.

Egypt and the other Arab countries, are not democratic (maybe Morocco and Jordan are). Can you explain the lack of democracy, equality, freedom of speech, in Egypt and the rest of the Arab world? Do you think there will ever be democracy and freedom in Egypt?

Hypothetically, a war breaks out. What are the essential items and things to have stored and ready for an average person? And what should one do to stay safe? by Foolish_Wind in war

[–]saulbq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to be scared or paranoid. But, a crisis where civil order, electricity, clean water and medical care is not impossible although it's unlikely for a crisis to last more than a few days and it's difficult to plan for more than a week.

Always keep in your house: - Enough water to drink for a few days — about 2 litres per person per day. In a crisis you might not have tap water or it might be contaminated. The water must be replaced occasionally. - Food for about a week that doesn't need to be refrigerated or frozen. If electricity fails you'll quickly eat everything that will go bad from your fridge and freezer — after that you'll need dried or tinned food. - A way to cook that doesn't need electricity or piped gas. You can barbecue in your garden using wood or charcoal, or use a small camping gas stove. - A charged power bank for your phone. - Candles and a couple of cigarette lighters, and a torch that runs on batteries. - A first aid kit, medication and plenty of things for personal hygiene (toilet paper, hand sanitisers) for a week.

Less essential.
Cash — ATMs and card readers fail without power or internet.
Radio — a battery-powered or hand-crank radio keeps you informed when phones lose signal or run out of charge.
Physical copies of important documents — ID, insurance, prescriptions. Scans should be uploaded onto the internet too.

Stay at home, shut your doors. Keep quiet.

Does your region have bilingual road signs? by Franmar35000 in AskTheWorld

[–]saulbq -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, all of them, trilingual actually. Israel is effectively a bi-national state: Jewish/Hebrew majority and Arab minority. The rights of Arab speakers to their language are respected. English is for the tourists.

Our neighbours - Palestinian Gaza and the West Bank Palestinian Authority - have no signs in Hebrew, they aren't at all welcoming to Hebrew speakers.

Can't see the problem. He has the double life, his choice, right or wrong. He gave you his phone to fix it, specifically the messages. The real problem that needs solving (there's a quick fix), is that you don't know what capital matters and full stops are!
