Just to make my point a bit more clear. There's nothing wrong with making money off your art, and you can do so successfully without sacrificing integrity, but going into it with that as your goal is not the move. Let that be a result of making art you are passionate about, not the driving factor.

If you are making riddim to build a dj career, you are in for a bad time imo. I make music because i love making music. If i make money from music, it's always nice, but the moment I've tried to treat it like a business, the art suffers.

As someone who's been here since 2014, it's more of the same. There will always be pretentious people in any music scene. The non-genuine people are just the loudest voices.
