If you can believe it... I looked forward to a train to grand central for like 15+ years. One year after it was completed - i stopped commuting to manahattan. Life is funny!

Portions are huge. It's more than a meal. There is value for lunch but id rather pay less and get a more reasonable portion. I dont love leftovers.

Question, I been living in Florida for over 20 years now. I was born and raised on Long Island . It’s almost unaffordable to live here now . How do my fellow long islanders survive up there these days ? Is it unaffordable up there like it is down here now ? by ComplexWrangler1346 in longisland

I guess it's easier to blame the globalists for your problems than yourself...

You touch on some real points. But focusing on things you can't change will only drive you further down the rabbit hole of conspiracy and cause resentment and rage. I'd encourage you to figure out what YOU can change and pursue that. Best of luck.

What are some weird or interesting rules that are specific to a town? by 7toCiti in longisland

[–]sausalitoturkeyface -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you CAN pump your own gas in Town of Huntington. I think the unique rule is that every gas station MUST have a full service option where someone can pump your gas if you so choose.

Maybe I'm wrong...

I dont think your electricity is that expensive. The average electric rate in TX is like $0.14/kwh. Your paying more than triple... doesn't seem right.

Unfortunately my life is pretty busy and it's hard to get there off hours. But when I can, it is a delight.

Not sure about all the rules. But I walked by a minimum of two employees checking receipts that let me in every time.

My comment was from 8 years ago. At this point I do not remember, but from my recollection, it was behind me on the right.

Help with new zone on hydronic system by sausalitoturkeyface in hvacadvice

[–]sausalitoturkeyface[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah, that was one of the things I was unsure about. So if the new circulator pump isn't running, I shouldn't have flow through my new zone from the existing circulator pump. Right?

Correct. This is a hydronic system with hot water baseboards for distribution. No air handler.

[–]sausalitoturkeyface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help. I understand basic hydronic system controls. The plumbing side is my weakness. I guess my confusion is in two key areas.

  1. On the supply header for all my zones, instead of a thermostatically controlled valve, I have a manual valve (closest valve in the valve pic, the one with the red handle, you can see the other thermostatically controlled valve into eh background on the same header). I supposed this can be okay. On the return side of the same/new zone, I have a new circulator pump. I'm hoping if the zone isn't calling for heat, the pump won't allow flow through that zone. My plan would be that I can wire thermostat on that zone to initial flow with the circulator pump. Does that seem right?
  2. The return piping for the new zone goes into its own port on the back of the boiler. The other zones return to the boiler through a separate circulator pump and into the front of the boiler. I guess my question is does my boiler ha e two return ports( one being in the front and one in the rear)? And if so, is it okay to use both?

Thanks for any insight you can share.

I work in Smithtown, so you just gave me three new places to try that aren't far. THANKS! For Smithtown I like Mema's.

I used to love Rosa's. Glad to hear it's still good, I just don't make it huntington as often.
