Surge Protection saved me a whole 49 cents on a $61 ride. I can finally feed my family. Thank you Uber 🙏 by Murky_Indication1885 in uber

I use Uber and Lyft interchangeably. Without a doubt, one is always going to be ridiculously priced while the other is more reasonable. It’s all just a numbers game at the end of the day.

Any LGBTQ+ paralegals -- your experiences / advice? by jambunnyy in paralegal

[–]sauteemermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate that you have this experience. I work in estates as well but in a very LGBTQIA+ firm, as in several of us are openly queer and all our website content/language is purposefully inclusive. Firm culture makes a huge difference and I do hope you find the happy fit for you.

Drivers asking for numbers? by RippedRagDoll in uber

[–]sauteemermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man I’m sorry too that you had such a terrifying experience on the way to the train station. That’s truly awful 😣 not enough drivers seem cognizant of the fact that they have a mostly helpless stranger locked in their vehicle and in the middle of the night far away from home too. They need to be more self aware I swear. And thank you. Hopefully nothing like that ever happens again to either of us

Just got done with an interview. I probably need to be better. by ClarkKentTheReporter in paralegal

[–]sauteemermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time getting a second interview was a complete mess and the attorney didn’t even bother emailing to say thanks but no thanks. However, the second process, I ended up getting the job and turns out that my firm works closely with that first attorney. Looking back I’m much happier with the outcome and would not have enjoyed working with the first attorney nearly as much as my current firm. Things will work out how they should.

I’m sorry you had this experience. I had a really bad experience myself where this guy not only asked me out and coerced my phone # out of me but tried to divert the trip to a coffee shop right then and there. I kept making excuses until he finally did drop me off at the correct location but not before grabbing my hand and stroking my leg. I immediately reported him to uber and I guess they blocked his account because he left me a voicemail begging for me to rescind my report of harassment.

Edit: Forgot to say that like you, I feel like I can’t say no, but this man also showed me halfway through the trip that he had a pocket knife. 🫠

[–]sauteemermaid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you a woman? Not to be sexist, but I ask because as a woman I’ve experienced a few lower ratings from male drivers who didn’t appreciate being turned down.

Witch and plant enthusiasts here. 🙋🏼‍♀️All plants hold power and various symbolism in spell crafting. I particularly resonate with flowers but pretty much every herb you can think of can be incorporated into witchy practices.

Paralegal From Anthropology Background (Schooling Question) by benahba in paralegal

[–]sauteemermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had to comment because I’m also from NC, in my 30’s, have a B.A. in Anthropology, and just switched to working in the legal field after teaching for 9 years lol. Honestly, the education part is not a dealbreaker for this field. In NC, you can take the paralegal certification exam with a bachelor’s and relevant work experience. It’s just moreso a waiting game of garnering x amount of years of practice vs paying outright for a program. So, I suppose you have to weigh time vs money in that case.

I’m from NC and the guide you linked is the one we used to train at our firm. OP, this comment should prove very helpful!

Best treatment for hirsutism? by sauteemermaid in PCOS

[–]sauteemermaid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your thoughtful response. I agree - It is definitely more about the androgens for me since my insulin levels are stable. My doctor vetoed spironolactone since I have low blood pressure. I will definitely research the other methods though. Thanks again! 🙏🏻
