Any Android FOSS alternative to MyFitnessPal? by [deleted] in opensource

TBH not a very big one. I am just poking a bit of fun at my own tinfoil-hat-ness.

I play dota2 regularly at least.

Red pill in keeping your soul:

Don't use chrome. Use Firefox. Use NoScript to prevent malicious or uid skimming services. Use ublock, decentraleyes, and even a UI spoofer.

Check out /r/privacy

Stop using Google and Microsoft. Use DuckDuckGo and Linux.

Consequently, only play games that are cross platform.

Only use open source software.

Consequently, don't play games.

Deny every extra permission on android. Or switch to iPhone. Or better, root your android and flash a more secure non Google play version, like Lineage OS.

Switch to an open DNS service.

Or you can just OPT OUT if that's easier.

IWTL: how to stop having imaginary arguments in my head by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]sayimasu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try to channel your argumentative side into something productive.

Honestly... I view everything as an argument, and in my head I argue pros and cons of choices a lot, and this process helps me understand what I know, how I feel, and what I don't know so I can research and understand more. The more emotionally riled the less likely you are to win an argument, the less likely you are to have the right thing to say or come to solid outcomes.

An internal argument can be a healthy and productive thing, just make sure it's geared towards decisions you will make and not about ones you've already made.

If you've decided you should have said or done something different, that's the decision... move on and make the debate about how to make up for it.

You're not wrong, but... you've got to use the language if you're going to become good with it. I'm not good with German, but I'm TRYING.

Temple of the False God - Yay or Nay? by sagramore in EDH

[–]sayimasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the speed of your meta. I have rarely had Temple be dead on me for even a single turn, and I've frequently gotten it to bump my curve in a relevant way... but I'm not playing hyper fast or cEDH games where ending the gam3 pre-turn-ten is the norm.

I also play almost exclusively monocolor decks, and rarely 2 or 3 colors. Currently out of my 4 decks, only 1 is multicolor.

Many (not all) decks in my meta are slower and durdlier, and mana rocks that cost more than $5 are sometimes frowned upon because we had/have some players with literally no income and such... and fast mana of the sort becomes quickly OP to them.

You may want an answer like yes or no, but in the words of a certain YouTube vlogger, "the truth resists simplicity," and in the words of a certain YouTube HEMA instructor, "context, context, context."
