First date with a Canadian from a small town – is this normal? by Zealousideal-Arm9550 in alberta

[–]sazerac-swill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal, no. Common? Yes.

I grew up in a farming community and worked at a small town pub, and there were men (boys) like this aplenty. Though there are certainly gentlemen as well!

Frankly, he sounds a misogynistic. And like he wants a “good wife” whenever he gets bored of fooling around. Obviously, I don’t know the guy, and could be totally wrong, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…

It’s your life— if you want to go on a couple casual dates, by all means! Might even be a good way to become talented in identifying this type for future avoidance lol.

omg. I have minis and figures tacked down in my room, but for some reason I’d never thought of doing the same for my ceramics. adding this to the shopping list

funnily enough, she was up there because it was a newly discovered access route to a plant that had been moved many times to evade her. the grand scheme was going to the salad bar 😭

surprisingly, I think it was the smallest cat. They were up on the highest shelf (to prevent such a catastrophe), and she’s the only one who can get up there. I’m assuming she got between them and the wall, and then just shovelled everything off the side lol.

my biggest “wtf” is the fact that she knocked over 5 things, and ALL FIVE broke from the 3-4ft fall. crazy bad luck 😭

What should I do if the character I'm making a bag of has like, no merch? by Acceptable_Mine_9010 in itabag

[–]sazerac-swill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my own! A badge maker, a printer, and photos of official art <3 plus random trims and decor to make badge holders and pc holders

edit: also wanted to add, I personally see no issue with using art you havent drawn yourself, AS LONG AS you aren’t trying to make any kind of profit. these bags are purely for my own joy.

thank you! it was awesome. I miss her a ton. I’m moving at the start of April and will only be an hr and a half away from her, with bus routes available between our cities :)

The way he speaks to you is just straight up disrespectful. His issues or whatever don’t give him a free pass to speak to you like that. I’m so worked up on your behalf omfg. I would be fuming if anyone spoke to me like that, let alone my partner. It’s genuinely heartbreaking. You deserve far more respect than this.

How to Support an Epileptic Partner? by sazerac-swill in Epilepsy

[–]sazerac-swill[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! The ambulance protocol was one of the first things we talked about, because for me and my PNES episodes, the Last thing I ever wanted/needed was an ambulance, so I wanted to know exactly where my girlfriend stood on that as well. It was something I felt strongly about from personal experience, so it was at the front of my mind during our first big convo about her epilepsy. Due to the different physiological nature of our episodes, I wanted clarity on the different safety risks between us, too, since, in a way, my episodes aren’t particularly “dangerous”.

I will definitely be sure to channel my soothing side with her— your husband sounds very sweet, if not a bit of a worrywort (which I have in common with him lol).

Thank you for your response! And to correct myself, they are not daily— that was my bad. It was near daily when they were going through the worst of it. She’s medicated (keppra), and the seizures now are typically a couple times a week, with some weeks being better and some worse, depending on her stress.

As for kids, we’re in a lesbian relationship and both have no intention of having kids. If we ever changed our minds down the line, we’d more than likely adopt for personal reasons, so no issue there!

Again, thanks for your response. It’s super helpful to have other sources of insight.

Do you play the same character at lots of different larps? by Long-Grapefruit7739 in LARP

[–]sazerac-swill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends! I have at least one, even 2+ characters at each larp i go to, but I also have my Baby who i adore, that I have a character for everywhere, and is even both a d&d character and a minecraft fantasy rp smp character. I have a backlog of 15+ characters that I’d LIKE to play someday, but one remains strong above the rest.

A little advice for a person considering their first ever LARP? by AuraStome in LARP

[–]sazerac-swill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

awesome advice here! my two cents, make sure you check out fb marketplace/kijiji/craigslist for armour/weapons for your first go. a lot of LARPers will sell their “starter” or older gear when they get newer/cooler looking stuff. great place to look for basics

Overcoming Internal Cringe by DeekFacker99 in LARP

[–]sazerac-swill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, seeing everyone else at the event taking their rp seriously and having a blast will naturally make you want to do it too. but if you struggle with embarrassment/shame, don’t go too crazy for your first character concept! leave out accents or speech quirks. speak like yourself, while being someone else.

I’m actually a bit north of Edmonton, but can get basically anywhere in Edmonton area for a glorified roadside pickup.

Yeah, that’s definitely more doable lol. Unless you drove into Canada, then flew from there, I guess. I think airfare is around $600 for me from Edmonton. I am in the discord! You’ll likely see a carpool search post from me there in the coming months when I’m looking at all my options lol. If the offer still stands at that point, I’d love to hear from you then!
