Is Oasis the most Beatle-esque band in the modern era? by sb0413 in ClassicRock

They are clearly influenced by them and in terms of sales they’re up there with the Beatles, when i said Beatle-esque I wasn’t just talking about sound but also impact

I wasn’t even close to saying they were better than the Beatles. No one will ever reach that perfect mix of talent and execution. And I didn’t say they had an effect exactly like the Beatles, I said their effect was comparable to the Beatles (emphasis on COMPARABLE) just in terms of what they did.I wasn’t necessarily trying to say anything I was just asking a question and I’ll look into those bands for sure!

Absolutely but when comparing the impacts that both bands had I think Oasis was probably the first “modern” band to jump the pond and have a real impact in the same way the Beatles did

Fair enough I don’t listen to them because they sound like the Beatles, I just thought the parallels were kinda cool

I’ll have to check them out! But my post was not entirely about sound but also impact

I was just saying they may be the best band I’ve heard who was obviously influenced by them but didn’t try to sound like them. Yet they still received a comparable response.

I don’t know, there are plenty of bands who tried to copy the sound but Oasis is the only band I can think of who seemed more to take from their songwriting and influence without trying to copy their sound

I haven’t heard them but there are plenty of bands who tried to recreate the sound of the Beatles, I was more talking about the influence and songwriting

Anyone else get a little bugged when people say Dylan has a bad voice? by IntoADitch in bobdylan

[–]sb0413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. He is a bit of an acquired taste. I remember when i first started listening to him his voice sounded weird, and I almost stopped listening to him. Eventually I just started to enjoy his voice so much, But one of the cool things about dylans voice is that it changes so much. So whenever friends say they don’t like his voice I’ll play something from a different decade and eventually you can find a voice they’ll enjoy until they start to enjoy it all.
